Robbo must be a fool - given he has gone down with another ACL injury, there was no chance any of the Melbourne clubs would try to trade for him. Rumours have been going around saying pick 1 for Boyd - maybe that's what Robbo meant to say lol.

No. It was a two minute exchange about Patton. My point being that rumours are meaningless

An Object Lesson in How to Acquire Players Cheaply

Garry Lyon picks an Alternative All Australian team from player transfer bargains:

Stefan Martin and Anthony Miles head hidden gems in Alternative All-Australian team

        Four Swans included; guess who.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Sydney Swans closer to re-signing ruckman Mike Pyke | St George & Sutherland Shire Leader
Seems bizarre that, having just traded away their first ranked ruckman to free up cap space for Franklin, and with just two kids and a journeyman as alternatives, that they would offer Pykey just a one year contract!!

I think it's a pretty sensible offer given he's over 30 and hasn't exactly set the world on fire this season. I don't think many other clubs will be banging down the door either. Plus Naismith and Nankervis will probably start to break into the team next year and definitely should be contesting for our best 22 in 2016.

Maybe they'd also like to keep cap space free going forward for negotiations with Malceski.

Unless they have someone in mind.

I hear Ben Hudson is willing to move.

Leunberger may be on the outer with the Lions.

They probably won't let him go and he is a bit injury prone but could be worth a shot if he became available.

We have three options on the boil, and two backups on the ground. I doubt we would be going for more ruckman stock at this stage.

"in Nick's case he wanted to concentrate on his footy and not have any distractions, and that's obviously been no problem for me." (Longmire)

What a load of crap. I would have thought that having the contract negotiations finalised and all speculation ceasing would mean that there are no distractions.

It would be distracting if the Swans werent prepared to offer that much for him.

I think reading between the lines Longmire is saying what will be will be. He has no control over an unrestricted player and realistically accepts we play under the rules regarding player movement, and deal with it when the time comes He has big fish to fry in 2 weeks and he doesn't need any distractions either. He hasn't signed, it doesn't mean that they have had no negotiations.

Agreed. And Longmire isn't na?ve enough not to have considered the possibility that Nick has already reached terms with another club and will announce on the day after GF day that he is leaving. If that is to be the case, there is little Longmire or the club can do about it and there's no point worrying about it either. Nick is definitely playing as if he is very much committed to doing everything in his powers to help the team win the premiership. Just as Buddy was doing for the Hawks this time last year.
