I'm not being condescending. I have a brother who identifies as part of your community as well.

      Two questions.
      1) Should Heriter be commended for his strong stance against the Collingwood Hierarchy over the inappropriate picture? People at the Swans love Adam Goodes for standing up strongly. Why not Heriter?

      2) Could Heriter inspire more people in the Gay Community to be involved with the Swans? The more the merrier I say.

Sorry if I created offence. I was not trying to be condescending.

Regardless of his beliefs and stances, H is still a self-absorbed, controversy loving individual. His interview on 360 last year during all the turmoil just screamed 'me me me'. I'd take Mitch Robinson over him in a heartbeat.

It's interesting you say that. If you compare career stats Pyke averages 5 more hit outs per game, more tackles and more handballs. Ryder shades him in the other categories. If we guess that the primary objective of a ruckman is to win the hitouts then Pyke wins. Ryder is probably a better all round footballer though.

When they played each other this year Pyke smashed him.

He was completely out of his depth that night on 360. He'd virtually forgotten what he was arguing.

We can always re-draft Robinson. That or promote him to the seniors. Or trade him to someone.

Shaws getting old, malceski may not be here next year. Heriter sounds like a perfect replacement for either.

Harry oh , no way. He's way past his best and I imagine he'd be not the easiest bloke to get along with. I think he should try his hand at activism full time, he seems to care more about that than playing footy

                      Lumumba would fit the bill.

I?ve also been extremely impressed on how Lumumba has stood up against the Collingwood hierarchy over a gay slur on a picture in the dressing room.

Heriter is passionate about social justice issues and I?m wondering if he could take the Swans engagement with the Sydney Gay community to the next level.

Could Heriter get another couple of thousand members of the gay community to sign up as Swans members and push the Swans membership to over 45,000?

It would very much depend on how much money Heriter was seeking and what sort of reasonable trade deal the Collingwood would do?
I would say that Heretier can be inconsistent with regards to his standing up for minorities, because if I recall correctly, he was overheard by an umpire calling Tom Hawkins a fat faggot but I guess peoples positions on things change and he may have learnt from that incident and I for one am impressed by him taking a stance on this. I guess as fans, some of us (and I am one of them) hope that the players and clubs we barrack for and support both financially and through investing our time, don't espouse values that not necessarily have to be congruent but are at least tolerant. The Magpies already have a gay supporters group, and I'm pretty sure they'd be unimpressed.

As to him as a player, I remember a few standout performances from him in 2012 against us. If we need a running back, then there are worse running backs out there so he'd be a reasonably good addition. But just to see Eddie's face... Well worth just trying!

Ted, Reg, AJ, Rampe, Smith, Rohan, Biggs, Jones. There's 8 reasons why we don't need Lumumba. I thought he was a really good player at one time, but he does seem to be on the way down and has too many off field problems.

Paul Roos was seen meeting with Heriter today. The Demons are looking for a ball player off half back and this is what led to the Malceski speculation.

I wonder if the Demons make the move on Heriter whether they would still go for Malceski.

                            I believe it is our specialist defenders that we need to recruit in. Players that were previously known as half-back defenders are now really midfielders. When looking at the age of our defenders (and sorry if I have missed some);

                            Richards, T 31
                            Grundy 28
                            Smith 26
                            Rampe 24
                            Shaw 33
                            Laidler 25
                            Johnson 22
                            Richards, Z 21
                            Walsh 26
                            Aliir 20

If we group these players into age groups

                            Age 19 ? 23 = 3 players
                            Age 24 ? 28 = 5 players
                            Age 29-33 = 2 players

It is clear to me if we are going to continue the natural progression of development, we are a little short in our younger defensive brigade. If we analyse this younger group further, we have Z Richards who could come on, Johnson who could be great but is injury prone to date, and Aliir who is still learning his craft as a defender. It is evident to me there is big risk in this area. Therefore, we need to bring in young defensive players either through the draft or by trading. I would be looking at some of the GWS defenders that have recently put up their hand to be traded back to VIC. See if they can be enticed over the bridge. We definitely do not need Lumumba or Frawley. I would also like to see Walsh offered another year. As he looks promising as a key defender.

Injury prone is exceptionally harsh on Johnson. Bludy unlucky is how I'd describe it

We could use one key defender I feel in that sort of 23-25 bracket, i.e. someone ready to go now. But I don't see it as a huge necessity either. If we can't manage to eek at least 3 more years out of Grundy, and a couple out of Teddy, then we aren't really trying very hard. The club obviously has high hopes for Xavier Richards as well. With a bit of luck, AJ's stinking run will end and he will come back into the fold (but he is not ever going to be a key defender), which will help with depth. It will clearly be an area I'd expect we will target in the draft.

Its a shame Jasckh of GWS wants to go back to Melbourne, he will be a very good player when given a proper chance, and would fit nicely. I'd highly doubt he will stay in Sydney though, and we won't have the dollars some Melbourne clubs will have available to offer him.
