And Reid is finally showing some real talent; I have been hard on him but we must keep him.

Players like him take five year + to develop and we are now just getting a return on our investment.

We actually don't need to trade; with Mills and maybe Dunk coming, they are real talent, and not just a hope that they will develop into something.

This is a weak draft, so club are not really looking to trade quality for draft picks.

Far better with the AFL restriction in place just to sit back and wait for next year
Agree with you re the Leuenberger, I am more than happy with Tippo as our number #1 Ruckman with Pyke as backup and hopefully either Naismith or Nankervis will take the big step next year.

If Jetta was staying I'd be tempted to just stay put and to be honest we probably wouldn't have enough money to resign him and pick up a player on more than $340,000.

If he does go, as it looks like he will, then we'll need to strengthen I think and for that reason we need these draft restrictions lifted

I also agree with you and Cosmic Wiz on the ruck situation.

But Jetta is a unique talent and really can't be replaced (Yarran looks to be more trouble than he's worth).

I haven't seen any top level players worth chasing this year, except for ones that we can't afford, so I'd be happy to stay with what we've got and develop from within. I think Cunningham is developing as a quick wingman and will take on more of Jetta's role if he goes. If Rose can work his way into the forward line, then Rohan should be able to play more through the midfield as well. It would be helpful if we could get more development from Towers and Hiscox going into next year.

There's a lot of people here saying..."The club must keep Jetta"...Problem is if he wants to take his young family home.

There's not a lot the club can do, that it wouldn't of already done, to change his mind.

I think all we can do at this point, is cross everything and hope he decides to stay.

I really hope Reid stays, he looks to have his best footy ahead of him.

As for ruckmen, is Zac Smith on the market?

If so I'd go for him, he's got all the skills. Put a hardened disciplined team around him, and he may well blossom.

Has Jetta actually said he wants to go at season's end? So far, he just hasn't re-signed yet.

& since when was there speculation that Reid was going anywhere?!

This is always the most ridiculous time of year, where journos & supporters get caught up in wild speculation tossing up names like confetti. I hope players don't waste their time paying attention to any of the drivel that is bandied about.

This is a thread titled 'Trade target discussion'. My mentioning of Reid and Jetta is simply responding to previous posts discussing these guys.

If you think it is all just drivel not worthy of your time, then why are you in this thread?

Think we all feel that way with Jetta but I just try and put myself in his shoes and I reckon there's too many positives pointing that he'll head back to WA

As for Reid, unless someone offers up a top 5 draft pick he stays.

He is under contract on good money that it could be argued he is only starting to earn. I believe he is well settled in Sydney with his partner and they bought a pretty expensive pad in the East last year and they also own a bulldog (not sure what that has to do with this thread but I have it on good authority he and his partner have a bulldog).

I have been very happy with his improvement this year - his versatility is great and he has threatened the last month or so to do what we all know he is capable of, to singlehandedly rip a game apart. If we are to win it this year he has to have a great September.

I would not think there is any way Reid would be leaving

Fair points EK. Just a frustrating time of year.

If the Swans trade in a ruckman their list will be very top heavy with ruckman:

                  They will have:

                  New Ruckman
                  Tippett - contracted
                  Tom D - contracted 2016
                  Pyke - contracted 2016
                  Naismith - potential upgrade
Toby N - not sure of contract status.

Will they keep six ruckman on the list in 2016? It's very top heavy. Will they have to let go of one of Naismith or Toby N?

Room will open up at the end of 2016 with Tom D and Pyke likely to come of the list.

Reid the last two weeks has stepped up a gear and his chases thru the middle have been awesome in defence !!!

Most key talks start hitting their straps around 24yrs of age

he will be 24 in December this year and you can start to see the upswing in his play and his body language looks different of late

That good authority wouldn't happen to be SwansTV would it? And I am pretty sure it is a French bulldog.

I thought it was a lady who I play golf with whose friend's daughter is Sem's girlfriend but it could have been Swans TV

I agree re his development, and to be honest I am amazed he is only 22 as he seems ot have been around forever.

No worries. Hopefully both Reid and Jetta play out their careers as top flight Swans.

If Jetta wants to take his family home, i think we should make a play for Steven Motlop. Gun!!!!!

From the photos I've seen on Instagram I think Sam and his partner have a menagerie of pets. Sam seems to be a big animal lover. I think his post-footy career will be as a veterinary assistant. In the meantime he should remain a Swan!
