What an absolute joke if the Hawks get Carlisle. Looks like the Hawks can have everything .

Can't believe anybody is surprised if this comes off for the Hawks they are a great club on and off the field - who was the last good young player we gave up along with a 1st round pick to get in a player in ?- I remember us using picks but never including a good young player ? maybe next year !!

Hawthorn poaching free agents is clever recruiting.
Sydney doing the same is (unproven) corruption.

          Simple really.

            Tend to agree

This isn't free agency, the Hawks have just been able to construct a deal. No surprise they are the club of choice for Melbourne players and they have a salary structure capped at about $700,000 that eally allows a deep talent pool.

The thing that annoys me though is that when are a club of choice then we get punished

His reason for looking for a trade (other than maybe the location issue) was supposedly to get more senior opportunities. The Crows already seemed reasonably well stocked with half-back flankers (eg Brodie Smith) and now they've recruited Seedsman. If Hampton wants to maximise his opportunities for senior footy, wouldn't it make sense to move to a club that has a complete dearth of players of his type?
I think you'll find that Brodie Smith will end up playing predominantly in the midfield this year.
I agree Hampton would be a great addition to our team but it seems like it's all but a done deal with Adelaide.

To be fair, the AFL's argument against us was that we were using the COLA loading to give us an unfair advantage. To be clear, I am not agreeing with that assessment. However, the AFL can quite legitimately say that Hawthorn are simply taking advantage of their hard work, success, and the excellence of their organisational set-up to attract players who are, on the whole, happy to trade away potential earnings against the opportunity for a flag. Good luck to them.

Those two situations are one and the same. Neither side should face any type of sanctions. The trade ban was an absolute farce and the Hawks recent trading is really making a mockery of the whole situation.

Part or me hopes, Hawks get Carlisle, Aish goes into the PSD to Carlton and Treloar goes to Richmond to leave Collingwood with F-All
Be interesting to hear Eddie then

Exactly. The unsubstantiated view that Sydney 'took advantage of the COLA' is an increasingly apparent joke.

Many on here are having a go at the Hawks. We picked up Tippett and Franklin in successive years without even giving up one draft pick.

The Hawks are seeing an opportunity and making it happen.

We are backing our academy and thus can't afford to lose too many draft picks in 2015 and 2016.

If we were not seriously looking at Academy or Father / Son prospects then we could put an offer to Carslie.

                          Just different execution strategies.

No issue with what Hawthorn are doing. Certainly an issue with the AFL but that's really got nothing to do with what Hawthorn are doing.

I think the point is that with a Trade Restrictions, we cant do anything for Carlisle due to the Money we can offer and the fact we have to lose players before we can gain players

No problem with hawks doing the trades but we get banned the minute we pick us two established players legally, no one cared when we picked up Teddy Shaw Joey McGlynn Matner Mummy and all the others we picked up. The Tippett deal was blocked by the AFL so he went through the PSD plus that was adelaides own fault, Buddy was a FA so yea...
Had we been able to pick Patful last year and strengthen our defence like Hawks did with Frawley Lake and Gibson now Carlisle instead we got banned instead.
