Bennell is the one we must chase. We need some x factor in our midfield. Someone who can produce a little magic. I feel he will be chased hard by other clubs so we should be prepared to give up a bit to get him. I assume we will get a 1st round for Jetta. Not sure that will be enough for Gold Coast so I would package up a player. GC need forwards, so I would package up Reid. It is a lot, but i really rate Bennell and that sort of player doesn't come around very often.
Hope for his sake he gets another chance but please not with us, pretty sure we won't have the cap space or picks to throw at him anyway.
Would much prefer to be investing in our academy products who have been thoroughly dickhead proofedComment

There are 4 players who i think we should really target hard in this off season if the trade restrictions are lifted or at least loosened. Here they are in order.
#1 is Harley Bennell. I know he has baggage and many on here are scared off by it but his talent is too great to ignore and if we lose Jetta then we don't have anyone on the list with silky skills. I would hope that if he agreed to come to the swans it would be because of our great culture and past success stories in turning people around. Bottom line people is that if he gets himself right he has Brownlow talent and could be the best player on our list!
#2 Jake Carlisle. Word is he will stay in Victoria but we need to do what we can to try and change his mind. He could hold down a key back post for the next 10 years and along with Sam Reid we could have 2 of the great marking talents in the league!
Speaking of marking #3 Jeremy Howe. He's 25 and while he's only 190 cm he plays tall and is one of the best marks in the league who could be a weapon at either end on the small S.C.G. He's gettable i believe and would be a great addition to our list.
Lastly #4 Jack Watts. Yes i know he's been a huge disappointment for Demons fans but perhaps a fresh start with a stronger club would do him wonders! He's got height, is a good mark, great foot skills for a bloke his size and more importantly he has footy smarts and makes pretty good decisions with ball in hand. Yes he hasn't developed into the big strong key forward that many thought he would but he undoubtedly has talent and being a third option forward with buddy and Tippett in the side plus perhaps playing on the wing as he has at the Demons he could again be a major weapon on the small S.C.G floating forward or back with his height and marking ability. He could go reasonably cheap for a former number 1 pick and still has plenty of footy left in him in the right environment.
Well I'm sure there's others who i might want us to make a play for in the coming weeks but they are my top 4 at this present time. What do the people of RWO think?Comment

1. Harley Bennell - sublime talent. If he was in this years draft would be top three. Should be considered
2. Jake Carlisle - wants to stay in Melbourne and we don't have the picks to get him here.
3. Jeremy Howe - a highlights reel but wants big $ and doesn't get the ball enough
4. Jack Watts - have seen him play some good games as the floater across half back but don't think he is worth whatever Melb want for him. Likely to be a Swans BF whipping boy!
So go go Bennell and only Bennell.Comment

Tom Harley on SEN today indicated that the ban may not be lifted, however the ceiling amount that we can play with may be raised to about $500k. He also said that Jetta is not a FA and therefore a deal would have to be done with WC if that is where he is going.Comment

Also, common sense seems to have flown the coop with this fantasy shopping list: how on earth could we pay for it all?? Bennell alone is out of our league - we don't have the picks and you'd have to wonder about salary cap space too. None of the others will be easy to get either. If they were free agents might be a different story. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

If we lose Jetta then I think we'll beable to trade in someone on around the same coin if the higher figure is to be believed.
If not then you'd think we'd be bringing in Muills, Dunks Jnr, Sam Naismith and one additional academy kid. Out will be Bird, Robbo, Goodes and Shaw.
Possible that we'll delist a player and bring in a bargain basement recruite a la Laidler but overall I am pretty happy with our list at the momentComment

I mean, as if Buddy would move from Hawthorn to Sydney, especially after they just won the Premiership and the Swans had already signed Tippett the year before."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

I seriously doubt whether we'd be any more that bit players at best during the trade period this year. We have Buddy's contract to worry about for the next 7 years, and we have tied up most of our young talent already this year. Surely we have little to spend already, even with a retirement and departure or two???Comment
