Surely with Melbourne delisting Daniel Cross, Bird can do the same job, with better skills, for them.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking, he is an ideal replacement for him although i feel that we would know by now if dees were keen on him due to Roos' knowledge of Birdy. But Bird will probably gain interest from other clubs towards the end of tade period as he won't be at the top of clubs wants/priorities.

Oh well , doesn't matter now - he's just gone to the Crows!
We'll have to go for Pendles instead.

The Swans should contact Curtly Hampton's manager and find out if he's still got his heart set on moving to Adelaide (the town, where I understand he has family links) or if he actually quite likes Sydney (the city). His reason for looking for a trade (other than maybe the location issue) was supposedly to get more senior opportunities. The Crows already seemed reasonably well stocked with half-back flankers (eg Brodie Smith) and now they've recruited Seedsman. If Hampton wants to maximise his opportunities for senior footy, wouldn't it make sense to move to a club that has a complete dearth of players of his type?

He would be an excellent addition for the Swans if we could make that happen

Can't help but think at the moment that we are paying Sinclair what we had put aside for Jetta and that we will need to release Bird/Robbo before we can sell. I guess Pykey retiring will free uo a little but for anything major to happen now you'd have to think Bird needs to be moved on.

I'm not sure Pyke retiring would free up any space in the cap. Sure we wouldn't have to pay him but I think the last year of his contract (2016) would be included by the AFL in our TPP a la Buddy. Liz?

                    Carlisle to Hawks looking possible.
                    Why doesn't this surprise....

I don't think that is the case butr happy to be corrected.

My understanding is tha the Buddy contract was a "special clause" the AFL insisted upon in signing off on the contract due to the, ahem, unusual structure of our deal. They wanted to ensure that clubs don't create uncommercial contracts to avoid them being matched (which you could make a strong case for us doing) and then try and wriggle out of them later.

Sure any amount that Pyke doesn't get paid next year goes into the pot given he was on a normal contract

@@@@, gotta hand it to Hawthorn, they are by far and away the best traders.

They keep turning late teens first rounders into gold.

This is how Eddie's VFL level playing field works!

AFL my bottom - VFL all the way.
