Massive opportunity for the giants here. youve got 10,000 people who have a strong enough interest in AFL to attend games (ANZ members), but feel like the swans have abandoned them with the CJK attitude. All potential long term AFL people, only just building a relationship to the swans but not locked in yet.....
giants swoop in, offer reciprocal rights to spotless stadium. Bang.Comment

I look forward to it Barry - if you want a head start - here you go GWS Giants | BigFooty AFL ForumMassive opportunity for the giants here. youve got 10,000 people who have a strong enough interest in AFL to attend games (ANZ members), but feel like the swans have abandoned them with the CJK attitude. And on the point of 'just building a relationship to the swans' - how long have the Swans being playing at ANZ? Since what 2003 or 2004 - if people have 'built a relationship' by now with the club (i.e. for those passionate enough, actually become Swans members and attended games at other venues), they never will.Last edited by mcs; 17 May 2015, 09:45 PM."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Couldn't agree more.
Us moving our of ANZ served two purposes
One is it gets us out of ANZ which is just not fit for purpose and back to the SCG where the overwhelming majority of swans fans want us to play all our matches
Secondly it frees up Homebush for GWS. They got 14,000 last week and I reckon they'll get more next. They desperately need to stamp their footprint on Sydney and this frees it upComment

The thing with that 14K was that it was all they could draw against the Premiers, following a ticket deal that went for more than a fortnight before the game where you could get $6 adult tickets through a number of different avenues. I saw an ad the other day for $20 family tickets for the Crows game next week. It shows just how much needs to be done in the west before they get even close to a true foothold.Couldn't agree more.

The people may not want it but not turning up just because it was at ANZ Stadium on a perfect night for footy like that is just pathetic IMO. Those with competing commitments or mobility issues excluded of course. We have three games there per year and this is the last year of it. We're one of the best teams in the AFL and the team play better when we're there to support them. Barry may be a grizzly old windbag with a one track mind but he's right about the fickle nature of SOME (not all) of our supporters.

Not arguing with that, I go to all home games at ANZ as well as the SCG, as far as I'm concerned if it's a home game I'll go. I was just commenting on the fact that SCG crowds have been bigger despite the capacity being smaller. The people may not want it but not turning up just because it was at ANZ Stadium on a perfect night for footy like that is just pathetic IMO. Absolutely and I knew that. I was certainly not having a go at your post, you were just reporting fact, just using the numbers you quoted to have my rant.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

No worries, that's all good. I actually get a lot of barry's arguments, and ANZ does have a bit going for it. I even thought the atmosphere on Saturday night was decent. But for whatever reason, it hasn't really worked out for us based on the crowd figures.Comment
