Adam has been one of my all time favorite Swannies apart from Mickey and Baz and Nicky Davis, but Goodsey has strayed into the political arena that I dont think he should have gone.

My humble advise to Adam............ Apologies to that little girl from Collingwood. All will be forgiven mate..............
Miranda Devine beat you to the punch. She's already written an article in the Telegraph saying the same thing:

He was a rich, powerful, 33-year-old elite sportsman; she was a defenseless, underprivileged child. And the AFL, if it cared about him, would have told him so, rather than pandering to his misplaced sense of victimhood.

A good start would be for the Swans star to apologise to the 13-year-old girl he singled out for rough treatment during a Collingwood game two years ago, after she shouted: ?You?re an ape?.
Lucky for us we have thinking people like you and Miranda to save us buffoons that thought indigenous Australians may have had a bit of a hard go of it. We're doing our best to put them in cages where they belong, but there just isn't enough money being spent on prisons these day. Perhaps too much is being diverted to health care facilities.

The Telegraph has the position of Miranda Devine followed by the counter-position of Richard Hinds. In the viewer poll that follows Miranda is ahead 69% to 31%, so it would seem that you are in the majority, which doesn't surprise me in the least. No Cookies | dailytelegraph.com.au

If anyone has advice on how to learn to become a racist so I can feel part of the mainstream of the Australian people it would be most appreciated.

Richmond to wear their indigenous jumper this round in support of Adam. Great initiative by the Tigers.

Some of the great suggestions here will go to the Swans board meeting tomorrow. Over to them. But things may have moved past us - CLFIwxPUEAAcKq_.jpg-large.jpgCLFIwxPUEAAcKq_.jpg-large.jpg

I love that idea, but fear we would cop flak for 'stealing Port Adelaide's song!' and give the haters more 'ammo'.....not that PA were the first, of course, so do it!!!

I was just about to say that it would be great if other clubs did something profound, then I see the Richmond initiative. That is truly excellent. I hope it inspires other teams to do something similar, it would make a powerful statement to all fans. There may be hope yet. If anything, it will lift Adams spirit, and that's a positive. May I say, Go Tigers....respect.

Giant kudos to the Tigers. Given the Hawks fans effectively started all this will be keen to see how they respond

I'm a glutton for punishment but I can't help reading the comments on all Facebook posts and media articles. Man I feel worn out, the amount of people that believe their own bull@@@@. It's astonishing! I can't imagine how Goodesy is feeling, how people can be so dismissive of how he feels about this, it's a disgrace. One thing this situation does do is highlight the extent of the problem we have, and I think somewhere down the line, Goodes will be acknowledged and celebrated for bringing it about.

The 2 things that really got to me were Micky O's daughter asking why they were booing uncle Adam and Adam's Mum pleading to just let her son play footy. For Adam's Mum, being part of the stolen generation, seeing her son overcome adversity to become a star of the game only to fall back to where it all started is truly heartbreaking. I don't know how they find the strength.

I hope Melbourne Blood is right and this does become a pivotal issue in the fight against racism. But as said, if you have the stomach to read some of the comments on facebook and articles, you wouldn't hold out much hope.

I find the comparison to Mundine uncomfortable but it's a fair call.

I didn't like Mundine but not, I hope, for reasons of aboriginality - I hated the way he was disrespectful of others, especially his own indigenous players such as Laurie Daley, calling then Uncle Toms and the like. He had no class at all and then tried to become a poor man's Muhammad Ali with his trash talking as he beat a procession of tomato cans and then totally disrespected a fellow indigenous world champ in Daniel Geale. Then he goes on TV with all his muslim brotherhood stuff re September 11. I hated the way he drew the race card for selection issues and the like which were totally uncalled for. The last thing you could call him was humble but in many ways he was a good role model for his people in his clean living ways.

Adam displays none of these character flaws but there was always that racial element to Anthony Mundine and I must admit I often questioned myself if I would dislike him so much if he was white. He certainly challenged the status quo and he was a talented athlete albeit on that was badly advised with his boxing career. It was a crying shame that he was such a knob throughout his career because there was actually a lot to like about him and I think he let a great opportunity slip because of that.

A disgusting hateful post that has no place on a Swans fans forum

There's plenty of forums out there where you'll find likeminded people where you can spout your racist diatribe

Quite frankly I'm disgusted this post hasn't been pulled - yes it goes against free speech, just shoot me....

Please can we not have this thread descend into the very same "I'm not racist but" stuff that seems to be everywhere at the moment.

This thread is called 'Stand by Goodes' and if you don't stand by Adam, there are more than enough places to express yourself amongst other likeminded people.
