    Maybe a bronze statue?
Far more deserved (IMO) than Kels.
(Not that we should move Kels, maybe just put Goodesy on the other side of him.)
Oh, I dunno, Annie. Maybe he can be bribed with his very own Alan Jones Stand at the SCG?

Maybe we could have a bronze Goodsey taking a speccy over the existing kels statue ?

        Yes to both.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Fantastic pro-Goodesy article entitled "Goodes is a Champion and the AFL Must Honour Him" in today's Herald Sun by Jon Anderson.

Wish I could post a link but it's only available online to subscribers.

Edit: Not terrific, too many bits dropped out.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Put the following words into your internet search and the article will come up (slightly different title to the words Sandridge saw).

              Football must honour Goodes? contribution

Thanks dimelb. All the important bits seemed to be there!

I emailed Jon Anderson, thanking him for the article. He replied saying that he was lucky to have a vehicle for his opinions.

All the retiring players should consider boycotting the AFL PARADE ...
That would be a statement .

I think that would be the last thing Adam would want

On the Superfooty podcast this week (best weekly podcast IMO), Ando was brutal in his assessment of the morons who consider it their 'right' to boo Goodes regardless. Good on him...

today's Age has an excellent editorial on Goodesy and his legacy to the game and community

The great Goodes departs the game

Thanks for posting 111431. A great editorial!

I firmly believe that, in years to come, Goodesy will be seen as an agent of change like Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali in the USA.

Probably the greatest swan player of all time.

My Dad and I used to call him 'Baddes' in the 2000-2002 seasons for his inconsistency. How happy I am he proved me wrong.

The silver lining is that him and Shaw retiring gives us salary cap space. If it weren't for this illegal trade ban...

Our group nicknamed him 'Bill Oddie' the first few years. Until your post, I hadn't given it a thought for years...
