Hanners and Grundy pretty predictable, but what an effort from Rampe. Joins another fast riser in Parks. Well done to all 8 of them

At some stage during the year we should see a side featuring seven first round picks in it.
McVeigh, Rohan, Mitchell, Towers, Jones, Heeney & Mills what a change that will be from all the first round flops we have had.

What I find even more interesting is that if you add Buddy into the mix, we would have 5 top 10 picks in the one team. When is that last time that happened for us?

Possibly when Fosdike (3), McVeigh (5), J.Bolton (8), Crouch (8), Warfe (9) last played together. If they ever all played on the same day. The doubt lies with McVeigh-Warfe.

McVeigh (5), Rohan (6), Mills (3) and Franklin (5) are the only top 10 picks in that list. Heeney (18) and Mitchell (21) probably would have gone top 10 if they weren't claimed under the Academy and F/S respectively.

Probably means nothing but what else have we got to talk about ATM
Until Heeney's growing pains stop the forward line it will be I think.

Also I think the talk about Buddy playing up the ground is a bit of a smokescreen actually, I think we'll still see him as our primary route to goal but he may drift up a bit from time to time. Likewise I can see Reid as a mobile half forward who ocassionally pinch hits down back.

I just think we'll try and mix it up a bit more this year rather than having Buddy so deep which we had to do when Tippo was tied up running. I can see one of Buddy, Tippett and Reid (or Sinclair if Tippo is in the ruck) a bit further up near the centre just so we don't over crowd the forward line. Towers' athleticism and unpredictability should see him playing the third target in the forward line proper. Of course we may from time to time just have all three deep down forward as triple key targets. I'm really intrigued how we'll handle three genuine key forwards plus Towers into our structure this year.

I was including Heeney because he was bid on at no. 2 by Melbourne. That makes him a top 10 pick in my book Having said that, I had forgotton Crouch was top 10.

I think you are reading a little more into it. Reid won't play NAB, I think that was more the point. he will play forward and quite frankly I can't wait for him to get back. He can at least pull down the big packy.

Can anyone find room for Benny McGlynn in their first 22?

Dawson says he is just concentrating on learning the forward structures. Can anyone enlighten me on what they are other than kick it long and slow to a pack!

If he's fit then absolutely...IMO he is pivotal to how we play.

Without any trouble at all. Clearly best 22 if he's fit.

I think Benny has a few hurdles to jump. He is battling a reoccurring injury and has had surgery to try to fix the problem. He won't be ready at the start of the season and will have to prove his fitness. Last year he kept breaking down and that is a sign age is catching up and the body no longer responds the way it used to with the punishment it is absorbing. Believe me AFL footy is punishment on the body. When you see the g force of a hit on paper it really puts the impact on the body into perspective.

In saying that he will be battling against Towers, BJ, Rose and Heeney for a spot. If you envisage him in the mids then he is battling Kizza, Parks, Mitch, Joey, Heeney, Hannas & Hewett.

Wouldn't that be a centre line; Heeney, Hannas, Hewett (H>H>H)

I'd prefer Hannebery on a wing and Hewett in the centre if we were going with that line-up...don't think George has the speed or endurance to play on a wing yet but his inside game seems very impressive...very quick thinker/quick hands and silky disposal by foot.

agree. The line was all about the HHH
