I knew someone would say that. Yes the nrl grand final would have been even better in qld. As it was it was 100x better than the tired old MCG.
Even in sydney, any fan who wants to go to the game can. Ironic that as an AFL fan I've seen more NrL grand finals than AFL ones because the AFL one is a closed shop.

You'll never grow the game outside Victoria while we have a fixed gf and do few tickets available to true fans.

What are you actually scared of about playing outside victoria. Could the AFL grand final in Perth this year have possibly been any worse than it was on saturday.?

I wouldn't mind a night GF at the SCG..........so long as we're in it..........and we turn up to play! I'd even hop on a plane and come on up. I wouldn't bother if it was ANZ though.

There isn't too many stadiums that can hold 100,000. I think the MCG should stay as the sole place for GF. It has the history and usually the atmosphere (apart from last Saturday). Just my thoughts on the GF. I did not think Hawthorn were terrific, I thought west coast were terrible. Even worse than Sydney were last year. How often was a Hawthorn player by himself in the forward line??? Even someone as good as C. Rioli was left by himself many times. Just looking at the newspapers now awaiting for the AFL announcement that they will place trading restrictions on Hawthorn to even up the competition, just like they did to us when we got Tippett and Franklin the following year. I await it with eager anticipation!!

Why do you need 100,000 when only 1/4 of that are actual fans.?
70,000 hangers-on is a poor reason to keep this inequality.

The atmosphere would have been much better in perth even if the game went the same way.

            Quote from Bloodsbigot.

It still irritates me that Victorian supporters still call teams outside Victoria as 'interstaters.' Seriously... this attitude is what holds Australian Football back from growing outside Victoria.
Did you even read my post properly. If you did, you would see I'm not part of the problem. My point was that the AFL see us as 'interstaters'. Get it?

The remaining 3/4 might still be football fans, albeit not fans of the competing clubs.

Out of interest, how many AFL grand finals have you been to, and how many of them did/didn't involve the Swans?

The AFL grand final is inaccesible to me due to its location and ticketing. Of course i could pay a few thousand and get there.

ive been to all sydney hosted prelims.

The venue had nothing to do with the quality of the game.

We know the game is more physically demanding than ever before. We look tired and flat in last year's GF and West coast also looked tired and flat. I am just wondering how Hawthorn can look so fresh after 3 weeks of intense finals type matches??? Not saying they have a special secret, but how they do it so well is a complete mystery??? Their fitness coach is streets ahead of any other clubs on recovery knowledge???

It did because west coast didn't have enough ground experience to kick straight.
Perth earnt the right to host it. Subi atmosphere for the other finals was better. Sad we still play in the VfL

Sorry but West Coast did not earn the right to host anything. The rules clearly state that the grand final is played at the MCG. The only right the Eagles earned was a home jumper & to call the toss.

Went to the game. The atmosphere was great.

Always is on GF day. Complete myth that the day lacks atmosphere.

They earnt the right, they were the highest ranked qualifier. Same as last year. The rules overruled that right.

Hawthorns odd were significantly shorter at the MCg than 3 weeks ago at subi. Fair?

Really no point arguing about something that isn't going to happen. No club in the league is interested in advancing this argument.

Tell the whole story barry. Its inaccesible to you only because you would actually have to pay for your ticket, arent actually a member of the swans so cant access members tickets if we make it, and most importantly because it is not at anz.

How many afl finals in sydney have you been to that werent at anz?
