They have both Foote and Melican down to Re-Rookie. Thought you were only allowed one third year rookie on your list which would probably mean Melican being squeezed out. Understand the Rookie list is being reviewed by the AFL with one option to hust have one list of players. I would be in favour of that though they might need to allow one year contracts for fourth round and later drat picks. Would also need to look at options for International, non football and NSW Rookie pre-listings.

That would seem likely, four out and two draft picks with two upgrades.

Foote as the third year rookie along with Marsh and O'Riordan fighting if out for an upgrade in 2017

Does Oriordan qualify differently as an Int'l ?

Yes, he is a category B, same as Galloway, think the two year rule doesn't apply to them, probably because most Cat B's are going to take more than two years to be ready to upgrade.

What about the Academy graduates the Swans have played NEAFL
            this year ?

Don't tell me you've already lined up Galloway as your new whipping boy after TDx departs?! What is it with you and ruckmen? Do you just hear "ruck" and think "maul"? The thought of you and ruckmen summons of images of a mad scientist/spin-doctor/special FX guy crossed with a honeybadger. Did ruckmen stomp on you in a past life? Why not go after a little whippet like Hiscox and be gentler to the giants? Either way it's an easy target.

Also, bear in mind that our own redoubtable ruck-whisperer made a similar prognostication about Mike Pyke's chances of making it when he was starting out!

It is true that it seems that I hold ruckmen up to a higher standard than other positions. All too often you see ruckmen who can compete in the ruck contest, but do little else and are more of a liability than a help to the team. It's not TDs fault that we went into a panic and signed him when he had already proven incapable of playing AFL footy. I'll miss TD when he's gone. He's quite an amusing character.

Galloway won't be my whipping boy. You have to play at least one AFL game to be a whipping boy and I can't see that happening. I don't understand why we drafted him. He's starting from such a low base. He could have played a couple of years footy at a local club to see how he went. I don't think he could get a spot on any NEAFL club. And there are so many ruckmen in state leagues that would seem to offer a better chance of making it than Kyle.

Even without TD and Kyle, we have 4 ruckman on our roster. I don't know why we need any more. I'd rather we allocate those spots for KPP prospects to increase our chances of filling those roles as players retire or leave the club for better contracts.

I don't have a whipping boy lined up for next year, although Callum Sinclair is trying his best to fill TD's shoes. I know it's an honour to be Ludwig's whipping boy (like winning the TLM), but I would much prefer he concentrate on marking the ball. I'd even forego having a whipping boy for a whole year if he'd do that.

"Re-rookieing" is such an appalling bastardisation of the English language that just reading it makes me feel the need to go and have a lie down.

Please note that I'm not having a go at you here 707, I've seen the term everywhere and am just pointing it out.

Sinclair has been driving me nuts lately also. Though I did have a bit of success with my "coaching" of him last week against Hawthorn.
No sooner had I yelled some derogatory comment about his inability to hold a mark, he clunked one in our forward line.
It's a start, and I'll be continuing with my advice to him from our seats 100M away in the Brewongle tomorrow arvo.

I think we should keep Nankervis, I really like his effort, he can take a grab and kick a goal. Saw him earlier do one stab pass at the SCG which was exquisite. I think he has the makings of a very good footballer. Sure his mobility needs work, but there is time.
Good ruckmen are really hard to find, and take a lot of work.

Tippet is 29. Nank will turn 22 next month.
Ruckmen generally aren't much chop until they're 25, so in 3 years Nank will be in his prime, ready to take over from Tip.

Sinclair is a spud, but I nearly fell out of my chair when he took a mark the other week.
Therefore rucks are Tippet and Naismith, then Naismith and Nankervis in a couple of years. Sinclair provides back up.

Id be supprised if we let go of nanker or naismith. We've nutured them for so long, it would be a waste to let them go.
One or both are going to be the post tippet ruck stock.

Derrickx is the one to go, if any.

This give us 2 live picks and 2 elevations; no trade-ins. So this would be the bare minimum. I think we need another couple going out, but hard to say who they should be. XR is probably playing for his future. The season still a few episodes left to play out.

Possible List changes at end of season

I know we are still over 2 months away but I was looking at list and the potential of players who may be seeing for the last time over the next few weeks.

Here are my thoughts on players that may not be with us next year. Some calls will be very tough and we will probably have limited changes, however I think you always need at least minimum 3 changes from your main list.

                              Retired - T.Richards, McGlynn
Delisted - Derickx (yes), Hiscox(possibly), Melican (rookie list), Murray (rookie list)
Possibly Traded - Mitchell, Towers, Lloyd - I hope we keep both Mitchell and Lloyd but I think one of these will be possibly Traded

To be promoted from rookie list - Papley (yes), Marsh (maybe), Newman (maybe)
Stay on rookie list - Foote, Galloway, O'Riordan

I doubt we'll trade much at all, unless we have to offload players to poach an omeara type.

But i agree with your retirements. I wouldnt discount mcveigh also hanging up the boots.
