Towers was a pick 14 originally. He is struggling to be in the top 22 of the minor premiers, but would be in the starting 22 for a number of teams. A pick in the mid 30s doesn't seem outrageous.[/QUOTE]
He was pick 22 wasn't he?"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

No disrespect or Dean or you, but I often feel supporters often rate their fringe players more highly than other clubs rate them. Whether we know them better or have rose colored glasses, who knows. That's just the impression I get. & while there might be many things to like about him, he does have his critics for a variety of reasons (you not being one & that's fine; I quite like his pace, his enthusiasm, his opportunistic finishing close to goal).
Please don't get me wrong, I don't mind Towers, but I'm not sure we'd get a mid-30s pick for him
Getting Biggs to Dogs only managed to upgrade pick 39 to 37.
And just because we got him at pick 22, doesn't mean we'd now get pick 22 for him. We wouldn't have got pick 15 for Daniel O'Keefe when we let him go.Last edited by goswannies; 18 September 2016, 06:00 PM.Comment

He'd be a decent pick up for a late second rounder for sure, I hope that we get something for him
As an aside, I really really want us to re-sign Nankervis after last night

I think nanko is great for the scg
I'd like to see more on the big fields as I do feel that Sinclair shower a lot last year on the bigger ovals"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I wouldn't think he would be on any less than Mitchell so whilst I think that trade could work on a football level I can't see it happening from a cap space level.
Also I think he would be absolutely ideal for the Suns and the Hawks after last Friday simply have to make this trade happen.
The 2017 Draft is shaping as a really good one from all reports so it would be good if we had two draft picks at the table. And we have two or three players coming through anyway next year (Foote, Dawson, O'Rioirdan) not to mention getting the likes of Hewett, Aliir and Papley up to 30 senior games asap.Comment

Mitchell for Bruest won't happen because Bruest is probably on the amount of money that Mitchell is wanting.
If Mitchell does want to go to Hawks, I reckon we'll take a bit unders, next years first, which will in all probability be low teens, and a shuffle of picks this year, maybe us giving them out third rounder low 50s because we may not want to use it.
Not sure how the Hawks get the O'Meara trade done, would have to be pick 14 and a fairly good player as a minimum but even then GC won't be happy but that's the reality of Hawthorns trade chips. A bit like us with Tippett, pick 22 and Jesse was the absolute best we could do.
The more I look at our list and what we need to do, I'm think AJ to the rookie list and Marsh probably hasn't done enough to earn a senior position (Newman is a likely HBF next year) so a second rookie year for him. Papley & Newman upgrade, Ted, Drex and Hiscox gone, Benny to get a one year deal given recent form.
So that's four off the senior list, now 34, Newman & Papley on, now 36, two at the draft, 38 again. Need another three rookies. All this assumes we keep our fringe players like Nankers and Towers who will attract interest but maybe not enough trade value to let them go without a tussle.Comment

As much as I like Benny of the last 3 games he's played well against a team that basically wasn't there, terribly against a good team (and yes he wasn't the only one) and well against a good team playing poorly.
He wasn't great earlier on in the season
I'm not sure he's earned another year.
Guess it will depend on what other movements there are within the team.Chillin' with the strange QuarksComment

afl.com.au reporting we are interested in Zach Tuohy. Would add the run and carry we have missed since Shaw's retirement and Malceski's departureComment
