Now I have to avoid this thread and Facebook etc for a few days.
Not because it hurts to see the lass discussed, but all the conspiracy theories annoy me.
They beat us. Their aggressiveness won them the game. Their faces during the national anthem and the way they bashed into the padding before the game set the scene.
They were switched on and played better than us.
    Bring on next week....

They bashed more than just the padding .... But you're right, in the end they played better than us and that's why they won. Doesn't mean I admire their first half tactics though.

GWS were very good. They beat us inside and thrashed us outside. The boys seemed really flat.

Thought Horse made a good point in his press conference when asked about the hit on Joey. "There wasnt a free kick paid so musnt have been much in it ????"
Said it 3 times. Think he might of been having a subtle dig there at the imps.

I think the bye probably accentuated something that could have been more of a problem; the fact that we have had very little hard footy of late, with some of the games being accurately described as being against "traffic cones". The last six rounds were: Carlton, Fremantle, Port, St Kilda, North and Richmond. The only games that were close were Carlton and North. Some of these games may have conditioned the players into a game style, where we could easily cut up the opposition without having to worry too much about pressure. When GWS brought intense pressure today, the timing and decision making started to break down. Hopefully, today's workout will see us in better shape to beat whoever we come up against next week.

Very disappointing game. But this is why we play for a top 4 stop so we get the double chance.

The concussion tests for Kennedy and Tippett really affected us as we had 2 players off for 20 minutes. Then losing Mills just topped it off. Poor guy punched the ground he was so disappointed.

You would think Jones will come in next week.

Hope the swans fans turn out at the SCG next week. We want a packed house to cheer them on.

I really think that Johnson will get a week for his bump on Kennedy. Will be very surprised if he doesn't. Not sure about the Mummy sling tackle.

Hmm if it is a GWS v Hawks prelim I don't want either to win!

Nice....the agenda is official. Just announced: Giants to play their prelim at Spotless. 22,000 fans is obviously ok, but 50,000 not ok??? This league is a dead set rigged joke!!!

If GW$ played anyone but the Swans at ANZ, I doubt they'd sell more than a handful of seats.

The heeney non Mark/'non free was a huge turning point. The htb shortly after added insult.

Mcglynn cooked. Has a career in small goods ahead of him with all the butchered ball.

Didn't see when Mills went down?

Kennedy wasn't right when he went back on.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the Tribunal rules. If Johnson gets off, I will find it quite tempting to believe some of the conspiracy theories. That is, there are many factors that should mean, season over. Firstly, it was an off the ball hit to a player who seemed to be looking elsewhere at the time. Then it was high contact, that left one of our most important players concussed and which forced him off the field at a critical time of the game. There also seemed to be no legitimate reason for the contact. And finally, there's Johnson's Tribunal record. I don't think that he's been charged this season? But at the start of the season, he was sitting at equal second for the all time highest number of charges with 19. Of these, he has been found guilty 16 times, for a total of 10 games suspension.
Of course, now that I think of it, guilty 16 times for only 10 games suspension, doesn't fill me with a huge amount of confidence.

Mills limped off just before half time.

Yeah, we went into the '12 finals series with three hard tough season ending games under our belt and blossomed in the finals, this year those easy games plus the bye did us no favours at all. The battle to hit back next week will be as much mental as physical, after today's humbling result.

OUr forwrad defensive pressure was way off than normal...

regardless of footage and doesnt matter whether he came back on or not there contact to the head and he was way off after the hit..the amoutn of handball receives he either missed or dropped was telling and was only until the last he got some rhythm into his game....

too many guys disappearred today...i think the run to the GF might suit us better than another week off to be honest...05 and 12 we didnt go straight to the prelim....06 and 14 we did...
There was an incident late in the game when we lost possession deep in our forward after mcglynn kicked long to Richards in a 3 on 1. Pappley and Tippett and Richards stood and watched as the Giants ran the ball out.
I don't know what we can do when 3 of the forwards won't chase and the others are bombing long to outnumbered contests.
It wasn't the reason we lost but I expect more.

Ok, they players will be hurting and will pick themselves up, so
                              I'll try too.

We've only been beaten convincingly twice this season (both times by GW$) but our other 4 losses we were competitive & went within a couple of kicks, usually with poorer personnel. It's a season where upsets can occur (as this round has repeatedly demonstrated). I'm hoping that North continue the upset trend (and the avian losing trend) this weekend; the Dogs get rid of the Hawks next week and then beat GW$ the week after. I'd give us a chance against North and then Geelong and then the Dogs.

                              I can only hope ....

Just checked the replay of the Kennedy hit by Johnson (here: Stevie J faces nervous MRP wait after Kennedy hit - AFL.com.au), a number of times and from the angle they show, a fairly long shot, the ball clears both of them over the back and Johnson just straight out runs at Joey and basically assaults him, way, way off the ball. It looks absolutely deliberate and malicious.....he SHOULD get 2-3 weeks. This is a massive test for MRP and AFL credibility and integrity.
