As discussed earlier in this thread if MRP impose a sanction on Johnson it may well have a one match bad record loading.

Niall on Fox suggested that Stevie J's prior record won't come into play. I'm not sure why that is. Niall's right in that his 2014 suspension is just outside the two years (it was really early in the season). But doesn't this count? So now we know that Tippet has a fractured jaw - where does that put thug Mumford with the MRP???I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Haha I completely agree goswannies - we should so no favours to the plastics. Its not like any other club would do us a favour in the same circumstance. As much as I hope the plastics don't win the flag, it would at least be great to see Johnson the grub have to watch if from the sidelines.
As for Mummy, when you look at the video he was holding Tippet's arm so that he had no way of protecting himself from the impact. Pinning the arms when slinging used to be one of the factors taken into account. The thinking was that if you deny the player the opportunity to protect themselves you take responsibility for the consequences. It will be interesting to see whether there has been a change in interpretation now that the single most important player to the fortunes of GWS will miss the grand final if past interpretations are applied. Call me a cynic, but I'm tipping a change of interpretation. My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

No, when he was a Swan he was suspended for sling tackling Gary Ablett. It was the first sling tackle suspension ever, because it happened BEFORE there was actually a rule against it. Again, let's just see how the rules are applied now that the single most critical player to the fortunes of Frankenstein's Monster may miss if past interpretations are applied. As I said above, I'm smelling a change of interpretations in the wind.My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

Channel 7 news earlier reported that the jaw injury was from the previous incident, not the sling tackle. He still whacked his head though, arms pinned, but who'd be surprised if he only gets one or even off?Comment

Anne, what reasons did the other panel members give for arguing suspensions should not be applied - do you recall?Comment

Yes, I found it a bit bizarre for a while now, that the Tribunal seems to pay more notice to injury, rather than intent. That is, they seem to judge more harshly, say, someone who accidentally breaks an opponents jaw, than someone who attempts to break a jaw, but fails in the attempt.Comment
