I'm not a fan of the string of close-in rapid-fire handballs to players under pressure that we seem to employ. I was always a fan of Mitchell, but he's the biggest culprit of all IMO.
If GW$ could kick straight we'd have been thoroughly destroyed.
The commentators praise of the "building" such a great team - well FFS, any team could build a side with the number of ****ing 1st rounders, extended list etc they've enjoyed.
Their song sucks.Comment

The Swans have never been a team to intimidate the opposition in a thug-like manner. They come to play footy, not to run though someone with their shoulder, or with intent to maim. They should have been given better protection today.Comment

We had no forward structure at all and allowed the giants to have so many options to run the ball out of defence. Our midfielders were constantly running backwards. One of Horses poor coaching games. He had too many people playing on the ball. And we lost our structures. Buddy had more touches in our defensive half than in the forward half. Rohan had a shocker playing more on the wing and Heeney who normally provides an attacking weapon was wasted on the ball. It just gave GWS so much space to launch their attacks using their pace and spread. Horse was too reactive to their game rather than trusting our own.Comment

Agree but they should handle it better. If we're such a tight, congestion team, you'd think we'd be a little tougher.Comment

Exactly! It's the fact that the umpires do not protect the players like in the first quarter today that really gets me angry. JPK could have been seriously injured, the attack on Heeney's head in the 'non mark' is another example. As for Buddy, is he ever protected by the umpires? Luckily he is a tough SOB...but still, the idea that the 'finals are different' does not mean that players cannot get seriously injured ..Comment

I agree. Clever tactics by GWS (and what I expected) but not tactics that I admire. That said our players have to learn to withstand it without getting rattled.Comment

Agreed on our forward line. We had nothing.
We seemed to be chasing them all day, with them being metres in the clear. Whenever we got the ball they had like, 1-2 tacklers right right up against us.Comment
