We are not omitting him because he needs a rest. We don't want him to get injured and be left with no clear ruck replacement for Tippett if required.

Yes on the AFL site it says he has gone for scans. I wonder which of the 2 incidents possibly caused the injury?

My brother who is a Geelong supporter mentioned that because we lost Geelong are now the number one ranked team so their preliminary final is now on a Friday night. This means that whoever wins out of us and Adelaide will only have a 6 day break!! Even my brother says this is unfair.

I knew that was going to happen if we lost yesterday as the AFL said swans can have a Friday pre-lim at SCG if they win QF as compensation for playing QF on a Saturday, I questioned what would happen if swans lost as then it would be a 6 day break and an away game and lo and behold. I do not believe any other minor premier has been shafted like we have. Brisbane got shafted years ago from 3rd or 4th and won the GF so lets see if we have the ticker to do the same. The swans 2016 need to have the same ticker as swans 2005, lose QF in Perth, win (all be it cos of Nick Davis) Semi at SCG, beat St Kilda in Melb then beat WC in GF. C'mon swans show that you have the ticker.

If not Jones then who? I know Laidler is probably next in line but would we could we or should we roll the dice and give Ted one more senior game

And it all comes back to the obsession of the damn AFL with a Thursday night final, it has thrown the scheduling all out of whack. Equally as stupid as our potential 6 day break is that the Dogs get a longer break than the hawks after week 1. With the bye it probably doesn't make much difference, but the AFL a long time ago abandoned any idea of fairness/integrity, rather solely thinking with their big fat $$$ whenever possible.

I wouldn't worry about 6 day breaks. The bye has negated any effects of that and 1 game in 4 weeks for kitty cats is worse prep.

                      Just worry about winning.

Surely it has to be Laidler now for Mills, after the forearm/elbow smash to Jones head from the GWS grub has finished him off for next week.

Nankervis for Tippett if Tippo is done, Laidler for Mills and that would be it for me. I've not been a fan of McGlynn in 2016, and wouldn't be surprised to see him go out. But I just can't see who would replace him.

None of the other listed players with sufficient AFL experience today really screamed 'pick me' today - in particular harry c drifted in and out of the game a lot. BJ did some good stuff but still butchered it a bit, Robinson still finding his way, Rose tried hard but just lacks polish, and Hiscox was his ordinary mixed self (i.e. well below AFL standard). Towers drifted in and out - looked a few times like he might take the game by the scruff of the neck, but unsurprisingly just didn't.

Newman was BOG today, deservedly so - but we aren't going to be giving someone a debut in the finals surely.

Laidler for mills seems a lock.

                          Nanker for tippet if injured.

Towers for mcglynn if horse is not to stubborn to admit his last 3 week mcglynn experiment was a waste of everyones time.
Towers mybe risky in tight finishes but with mcglynn you don't get a tight finish to worry about.

Agree with you but the worry with Towers is he's a poor tackler in the regular season in finals with his lack of pressure is a worry

Tippett ruled out - fractured jaw. Duo ruled out - sydneyswans.com.au

Nankervis is a certainty in my books.

Good to see that Mills' hammy is minor.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

One thing I like about Nankervis is he will take no @@@@ - he will go in hard, which might be just the tonic we need. Jones would of been great in that space too - he is a bit of an angry ant.

For the medically informed people on here, any chance Mills could be back should we make the GF given its only a minor hammy?
