    2017 pre-season training thread

Talia is back and training with the 1 - 4 year players. Excellent news IMHO.

So now how does that effect your predictions?

Keep getting gun mids for development, possible games played in '17 from injuries, and a tall for Nank's replacement and future ruck stocks.

With Talia and (fingers crossed), Alex J coming back (no appearance in today's time trial?), it is all getting quite exciting.

I saw Talia was there, at least we know he's fit!

Melican looking much closer to the 92kg plus you need to be as a genuine Key Defender of the future !

So happy to see Nick Newman in the top 4 runners and i almost didn't recognise him as he has lost a few kg

he must have done extras to be in front of Robbo as last year Robbo was top 5 in the 3km time trials with all players present

Reckon AJ will be on a heavily modified program given he only ran for the first time in three years a few months back. Doubt there's any stress being put on his knee this early and he wouldn't be in the senior planning for the first half of 2017.

Good to see Foote, O'Riordan and Newman filling the placings, three guys I expect to step up next season, we do have some spots to fill.

Herald Sun says "Grand finalists Tom Papley, Zac Jones, Callum Mills and Isaak Heeney also trained, as did Alex Johnson, who missed the 3k time-trial but continues to step up his running load."

Bless the Hun! (reaches for the mouthwash)
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I can't get the 'premium' articles but can get a lot on news.com.au without subscribing.

Given the likes of Paps and AA ie late draft picks have come thru and really added to our snr team who are ur 2 players that have played less then 2 Snr games that will go on and be strong contributors for 2017 Snrs ???

There is another photo where he appears to be passing heeney and Dawson on a lap ?

There aren't too many of them, are there?
                            1. Nic Newman: The most obvious one. 24 yo. New contract. Ready for the big time.
                            2. Jordan Dawson. There were a few sentences about him on the Swans website today. He was singled out as being in good shape and wanting to make and impact.
                            3. Jordan Foote: Won the 3k time trial, but it's hard to crack into our midfield without injuries. There will be the added task to 2 new (hopefully) very good players coming in this draft, but I don't think anyone is a walk up starter at the Swans.
                            4. Colin O'Riordan. He might get a go early in the season if he does well in the pre-season games and AJ or someone else starts on the LTIL, giving COR a rookie elevation slot to fill.
                            5. Abe Davis: I've got too much invested in this kid to let go just yet. I've got him working on his fitness, hoping to get another go in the rookie draft. His skinfolds are almost the same as mine, so he's making progress. KB promised that if he can pass Reg's 'fat-arse' test by the weekend we'll give him another chance. Abe thought it would easy to pass, until I told him his arse had to be smaller than Reg's. He has to run to Myanmar and back if he wants dinner tonight.

Looking at the photos and reading the comments the only players seemingly not taking part are Aliir, Hewett, Leonardis and perhaps Sinclair (he may no be required to be there yet).

Its good to see Naismith as well as AJ out there and to hear that Dawson is impressing. If he can step up we won't need Haywood at pick 9!
