I have a feeling he has picked up a coaching gig somewhere

      Lloyd Perris:

According to info in this link Lloyd was a Senior Assistant Coach in the Sydney Swans Academy and also coaching the Sydney Uni NEAFL backline in 2016.

And for 2017 he has been appointed the Development/Midfield Coach for Sydney Uni NEAFL.

I'm glad that he's developing his coaching career. He could definitely play football and was very unlucky with the injuries to his knees.

Yes pity re his ACL problems.

I had read that he was coaching at Syd Uni but I was surprised when I pulled up that link to learn that last year he was also coaching at the Swans Academy.

Annie has commented re Tippett that the Swans are loyal to their players who get injured 'on the job'. They certainly have been with AJ. And giving Perris a coaching role immediately after his delisting (and so a start on an alternative career) seems like another example.

Lloyd was an outstanding junior footballer. He captained every rep team he was ever in, and was very focused on an AFL playing
career before his knees got in the way. I gather he is studying at Sydney Uni as well as coaching there. He will probably do well.

So looks like a very very quiet trade period for us. It's like the trade ban!

It's interesting the reaction by Melbourne supporters to the Watts trade. They have gone nuts. I remember a couple of years ago when we played them and they were booing him!

Yes, every year I go to Melbourne for our match against the Dees (which most recent years has been held in Melbourne) and sit with friends in the Melbourne FC members area. I have been shocked at the vitriol and booing aimed by Melbourne fans at Watts. I would be bitterly disappointed if we ever treated a Swans player that way.

Good for watts and good for melbourne.
The legacy of no. 1 pick has haunted them for too long. But pick 31 is a steal by port.

I think Johnston had a couple of good games for Adelaide (when all their big forwards were out injured), then he went down with a pretty bad injury himself and that was the end of him.

Edit: Just realised that this sounds like I'm claiming his career was cut short by injury. It probably wasn't, but he had potential.

Would love the Swans to come out and say

"yeah, we stuffed up. We thought we had a few more years in the arbitrarily allotted trade ban time"

                      or

"we are really surprised that the AFL didn't find a way to ban us from the draft, we were sure they would have found some new way to get this to happen"

                      or

"Mike Fitzpatrick has been stalking us. We're pretty nervous to make a trade for fear of what will come back to us"

?Sydney holds No.14 and would deal that selection to the Dogs if it was able to secure an extra 2018 first-round selection in addition to either 25 or 30.?
I hope this is still in play with the Stringer deal not through yet

Probably a couple of years ago, when the AFL banned us from trading...

We still did a "swap" for Jetta vs Sinkers. Looks like me might be able to some pick swaps in our favour?
