We've had a helluva ride since round 7. We've continued to find new young players who will be part of our next decade. We have pick 14.

I don't have to worry about getting GF tickets.

Tonight's red will taste less bitter than last nights.

That's all the positives I've got for now.

At least there is one Sydney side still in the finals.

There were so many highlights this year - and over an extended period of time.

Stealing victory over Richmond and Essendon were great, Buddy's 10-goal haul, Buddy's run down the wing in Adelaide, the great crowds that came to watch the run home.

The personal ones are the most satisfying for me. I took my 5 year old to all the Melbourne games (and two in Sydney) and the fun we had together was great - even with the disappointment of losing games. He can be so pessimistic at times that I was forced to be more of an optimist. I also started making accurate predictions about what would happen mid-game and during the season that became a source of entertainment on its own.

I hope next year has just as many highs.

Clearly last night was very disappointing and I agree with Ludwig's assessment that it's pointless to even try and analyse it. We were poor, they were red hot. It happens in sport, deal with it.

For me this season is not a failure. It promised to be an A+ but bookended with that result and the 0-6 start I think a B is fair.

The main positive for me was the character of the team and club to come back from 0-6. Much more character than many here on showed who threw their toys out with the pram and started threads calling for Horse's sacking. To see us respond to such adversity was very encouraging and exciting.

Our list is very strong. We re-signed all our requires players and we have a good stock of players that can come in next year and make the side even better (Aliir, Dawson, Florent for starters).

The academy has come on well and will start producing some real talent from the 2018 draft onwards with some good local boys.

Well done swans. I can't stand the thought of listening too all the bedwetters in here right now so I'll pop back in at draft time I imagine.

Who do we want to win today?
If there and end of season ladder position for the Swans that is affected by the result?
ie: we want to finish lower for draft picks.

My understanding is that if West Coast win, then our first pick moves from 14 to 13.

Put faux rivalries aside, you've got to back the Sydney team who face the same obstacles as us (MCG grand final, cola gone, academies under constant attack, Melbourne media demonisation ,etc)

+2 Well said. After 0-6 I had given up on the season and just wanted the team to put in effort and blood young players. They exceeded my expectations to reach this stage, and I am very confident that 2018 will be a better year. I am proud of the players and coaching staff, even though they had an off night yesterday.

I'd back any team over a bunch of Melbourne flogs any day of the week. These are the clubs that tried to vote us out of existence and then add everything else on top of that. This year may be the first year in a while I actually may take an interest after we're out.

We get to start the preseason 2 weeks earlier and hopefully a majority of the players get a full preseason in and are fit by round 1. No more 0-6 starts please!
