5th or 6th depending on the Sydney v Adelaide game. Their season has basically been tore to shreds in a week. Dangerfield suspended then a thrashing, Selwood injured pretty badly, Duncan n Hawkins suspended. I don't have them winning a game for the rest of the h & a season. Play Richmond, Collingwood & GWS. They have stuff all midfield depth n will not have Hawkins for that Collingwood game. Honestly people go on about our cap but it's a well known fact Dangerfield took way under to go there so wtf are they spending it on.

Selwoods, Hawkins, Touhy (new recruit) and Smith would take up a bit of coin. They have some young players but quite a few good mature players on their list too -> Seniors - geelongcats.com.au

Outside of the 2 main midfielders I think it's a disappointing list. Smith shouldn't be in a huge amount. I just don't rate their list management that well. It's not a list that screams premiership it relies to much on to few n when you get an absolute gun at a bargain price your list management should be better. It's not the old Geelong with a young Selwood coming through n depth all over the park. It's a list built around to few contributors. Just my opinion. Id pick Sydney's list over Geelong 365 days a year.

So you must have Port beating Bulldogs in Ballarat. I'd tip the other way. The other way through would be the make up the point differential to Port: 84 points.

I do have port winning that game. Their ruck division is miles in front of WB n they'll get enough supply n I think the forward half is a lot better than the Bulldogs back half. Port at times have looked great this year but WB have not once looked to me like they can pull it together. They looked terrible against the lions on the weekend. The media keeps pushing this thing that the bravedogs will do what they did last year at some stage n pull it together but I don't think they will.

Fair enough. I thought they might have demonstrated a switch in form after beating Essendon by five goals a fortnight ago, although I didn't see it. The Easton Wood injury will hurt.

Their back half ATM is nowhere near what it was at times last year. Wood & Morris injuries will hurt them pretty bad over the next few weeks.

I do think now that the collective curse put on the Hawks by RWO has worked and knocked them out of the final race, the curse
needs to be moved onto the Bulldogs. They really do need to be sent back to their spiritual home (somewhere between 9th and 13th
on the ladder). It's a pity we're not playing them again in the last three rounds (all of them), we could finished them off ourselves.

The big question is can we put up a strong contest against The Crows ?
I think we can but I doubt if we will beat them in Adelaide .

We match up well on the Crows. They'll be tough to beat but not impossible.

At our best we can beat anyone, including Hawthorn.

If we have close to our best team against the Crows we can beat them too, regardless where we play them.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The only sides playing good consistent footy are Sydney, Adelaide & Richmond. GWS on paper are streaks ahead of everyone but it's not played on paper n they've done stuff all lately. People got all excited over the defeat of Melbourne but Melbourne are shot to pieces they look tired n gone n have have for a while to me. Geelong like I have said to much has gone wrong at the wrong time of year. Port are just to inconsistent. WB have big game experience now n that'll drag em to finals but they won't go nowhere. WCE will put in one big last game at subi against Adelaide n that's it for them. SK midfield fails at the wrong time. Essendon potentially a very good side but has terrible forward pressure n they'll pay for it. I feel to many fall for the media's flavour of the week. How many times have we heard about one of the Melbourne sides jumping out each week. It happens on a weekly basis n I ain't fallen for it. This week it's Richmond who I've said previously I don't believe will win it due to not enough key forwards. It showed in our game against them at the mcg. Once Reid went back late in the game the game was as good as won. I think they can possibly make it but not win it. We are a good chance but it depends what draw we get in the finals. And as it's the same for everyone injuries play a massive part in your campaign. If it was my choice I'd rest Kennedy for one more week. His hamstring is tight n you don't want him going down on a 21 day hamstring injury on the weekend. Because that would mean out for the first week of the finals.

Adelaide playing consistent footy - Really?
                            Since their Round 13 Bye.

Lost - To Hawthorn at home
Won - Unconvincingly against Carlton at the MCG
Won - Belted the Bulldogs at home (but everyone was doing that)
Won - Belted a depleted Melbourne. Game was done by qtr time
Won - Got over Geelong at home by 21 points.
Draw - Collingwood. Should have lost after being 50 pts down.
Won - Belted a dismal Port, but so has every top 8 side except us.

What is consistent is they have belted some very ordinary sides on the day. The rest of their performances over the last 2 months have been just average to ordinary.

They may be top of the ladder but they aren't the super team that Collingwood was in 2011 or Essendon in 2000. They are beatable, but first we have to get over Fremantle, before we start thinking about them.

Richmond's consistency of form is questionable.

                              Round 16:
                              St Kilda 5.3 14.8 19.8 21.12 (138)
                              Richmond 1.3 1.4 4.9 10.11 (71)

Richmond's second quarter in this match was one of the most insipid performances by any side in any game this season.

Good post Boddo. I would add re Kennedy, giving him another week's rest would help give some of the younger midfielders (Heeney, Hewett, Papley) valuable experience in the middle just before the finals.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!
