I always thought no plan B but even though I hate derm he said it well
Longmire has his way to play and makes other teams beat him
In season you play your brand in finals you take away what the opposition want

Does anyone really think we can win another premiership with Longmire? He's done and it's time to say thanks and move on.
It's not his fault there are individual errors but it is his fault we are dreadul.
So Chris Scott who up till tonight had won 2 out of 9 finals is suddenly a genius. We were due for a bad game unfortunately. Hard to swallow but to sack Longmire is farcical.

          Just got home from it.

An insipid effort by all and sundry.

Not falling into the trap of blaming this player or that, this selection or that selection, this positioning or that positioning, no sir-ee.

What has been apparent since the last GF against Hawthorn is that we all have something to be very afraid of.

There is a latent undercurrent of deer-in-headlights about our team that has been there for some time. When it strikes it is merciless.

The Bloods culture is now a memory, see blood now and we get weak in the knees and keel over.

Some players went missing and Franklin had a bad kicking night. Rohan and Reid languishing in defence. Bad night to do it when Geelong were so fired up which was kind of predictable after all our hype and they were written off. Before the game I said we were due for a bad one after such a brilliant run and predicted a 3 goal loss. Ha! If only.

Ultimately, the bad first 6 weeks has caught up with us as we had no room to have a 'bad one' come the pointy end of the season. Very proud of what we achieved in the end in our season, but a shame to go out like this.
This. I'd arranged a couple of months ago to fly to Ireland on Sunday and only return for the GF at a mate's place in Sydney. People saying that Melican would have changed the result are delusional. We were outcoached - but Clark only beat us by a goal. The whole team was lacklustre like they'd hit the wall. In a way I'm a bit relieved first that it wasn't close so we can avoid "what mighta been" and secondly that it didn't happen in a GF again. At least we get a full pre-season for 2018 and we have a lot of kids with talent coming through.

Now I just have to work out who I want for Premiers. Straight after the game I said GWS as that would piss Melbourne off most. But I think the Crows deserve it most (and it'd annoy the establishment). I'd like the Tigers to crash and burn and the whole of Melbourne's bandwagon with them. It'd be fun if it was the old perennials the Cats to win it again - but that's a lot of reward for perfecting ducking.

AFL has the memory of a goldfish. Every year one of the Top 4 teams is picked to lose the semi to one of the 5-8 teams. Then it doesn't happen and everyone is surprised. Swans probably ended up where they deserved to be on the ladder.

Good point Marshall! Once Dangerfield got a couple of soft frees we totally panicked. Not sure if that was the reason or we were upset by their hard at it attitude.

And not exactly writing them off. Both exciting-but reckon they're a while off being regulars.

You cannot blame the coach for any of that garbage served up tonight. It is all the players fault.

Harry Cunningham - how in the hell did they resign him. He refused to go to a contest and had 2 stats to half time. What about his butchered kick in the 3rd quarter. Here we were 5 or 6 goals down but looking like we might get back into it. He flukes a mark on the 50 metre line.(yes the ball fell into his hands). What does he do; kicks it sideways to a 3 on 2 contest, instead of top of the square. Then in the last quarter, takes the handball receive, no pressure, runs through the centre with 2 players over the back and chips it to the only Geelong player in the vicinity short of our 2 players. You can't win flags with his type. Never, never, never, never, ever, ever, ever to get another game.
Dean Towers - I guess we all got lulled into a warm and fuzzy place with Dean over the past few weeks. Clutched at the ball, deer in the headlights and horrible disposal.
Sinkers - words fail me. 2 stats for the game.
Rohan - only way to describe him is; a perennial finals failure. One kick to half time. One stat to half time.
Newman - looks pretty on the outside with a handball receive or kick to him 20 metres clear, but put him in the heat of the moment and his awareness melts. Very soft and lacks awareness of a player around him when in a one on one or in close. Got caught out big time.
Hewett - lost me tonight. Absolute rubbish disposal. His horrible try to kick to Buddy on the lead, on his left foot mind you, was dead set amateurish. Did that a few times.
These blokes are not going to take us to a premiership. We have to carry Cunningham, Towers and Rohan in the salary cap for another 2 years for goodness sake.
Parker - lets not pick him for a final at the G.
Naismith - tall but that's about all. Gave us nothing around the ground. Tonight was a boarding house cup of tea; big and weak. And to think we preferred him to Nankervis. I doubt he will make to any great level unless there is quantum leap over the pre season.
Reid - lets not talk about him being a backman. 5 minutes at the end of a quarter is ok, but any more is downright dangerous. Up forward only please.

Buddy struggled to run and Papley hardly looked right. Mills, McVeigh, Jack, Hanners, Jones and Kennedy late had a go but the rest can be put in the chook raffle on Mad Monday. Mcveigh the old bloke, at least had a go all night. Don't know that resigning him for another year was real smart.

Angry, too right I am. The poor things that Cunningham (not many things) Towers, Newman and Hewett have been doing all year with ball in hand came home to roost tonight. That drafting thread talks about our depth. After tonight we have to seriously question our depth.

What a disappointing way to end the season ????. We looked tired and had no energy. I guess the season caught up with us.

I'm proud of how we turned the season around but just wish it didn't end like that.

Don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight.

And when it happens Longmire gets that 'dumb horse' look as well, which he had from during the 2nd Q tonight

Parker stunk. In a big final. Again.

I think Hayward is a near certainty to be a 200+ player with an AFL side - hope it is with us.
