At 1st glance, i thought this is a horrible deal. But i have a lot of tine for Acres. He is coming into his prime and i think we can take him to the next level. Its the picks i don't like. Not only are we not getting into the top end of the draft, it takes us out of the 1st round altogether. Unless swans have their eye on someone next year. I would like this deal better if GC entered the party with a 1st rounder for Lloyd.

He can come back after seeing a different part of the world. It's good to see how another organisation works and share the intellectual property.

Where our 1st pick is in this draft irrelevant provided we have sufficient picks and points to cover Blakey. I would be disappointed if we didn't get the saints first pick this year as it would be a great opportunity to pick up a gun mid. The trade would also mean that we wouldn't have a first round pick to upgrade for a Lloyd trade if he was traded BL or GCS. IMO Lloyd is worth more than Hanners, maybe they would be willing to look at a straight swap of pick 3/4/5 for Lloyd?

I would be happy with that except not giving away our first round pick.

Hannebery + Sydney 2nd pick for Acres and Saints 2019 1st pick sounds like a winner

You would think that would appease the saints fans also

Surely they're not silly enough to give up Acres.

So I'll take that as a resounding YES to Goddard!

I have to be honest- I didn't even think of position in team, and agree that Jarrad is currently filling the most logical role for Goddard (and assuming he plays another year there's probably little need, unless they take it in turns- great for team continuity!).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

By the way, this implies that both Macca and Reg will get playing contracts for 2019. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...23-p4zzcl.html

"Jarrad McVeigh will learn in the coming days if he will be given another contract to play on with Sydney next year. The former Swans premiership captain will have his future decided by the club's list management committee this week but is expected to be given the green light to lace up for a 17th season in the red and the white. Veteran defender Heath Grundy is also likely to play on next year with the Swans.

"McVeigh, who will become an assistant coach at the Swans after his playing career, was given a strong endorsement by Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland to play on earlier this week.

"The discussion will continue with our list committee," Ireland said on Macquarie Sports Radio. "I think the reality is, Macca's played a cracking year, and all things being equal, I wouldn't see any reason why he wouldn't play next year. That's a decision that will be discussed between the list management group, John [Longmire] and Jarrad. But as I say, I think his football has been first class and I don't really see any reason why he wouldn't play on."

On an unrelated topic. North are keen to trade their first round draft pick rather than being forced to use it on Tarryn Thomas.

The same would apply to the Swans. There’s no way Blakey will make it to pick 10+ so we are better off using that pick in a trade and points for Blakey.

Swans will have figured this out already. Who is it?

Looks like Lloyd will be leaving then.

Or maybe Mitch McGovern? Crows have confirmed he's on the table.

I think Swans biggest need by far is midfielders, even more so if Hanners +/- Lllooyyydddd leave. And I reckon the Moore thing is rubbish. I believe we’ve got plans for a Hanners replacement.

What do people thing of Jed Anderson. He’s not signed a new contract at NM
