It seems that Langdon is staying at Collingwood for a 2 year deal ffs. Seems dramatically worse than what we offered him. Blind loyalty?

Pick 70 for Finlayson should do it OR Pick 33 for Jonas.

Might as well keep 26 and draft a kid. Let the recruiters earn their money.
26 cannot be used to draft a kid. Well, actually it will be but that kid will be called Nick Blakey. You have to use the points from your next picks to pay for an academy bid.

It is unlikely that we will be trading in any one of note now. It looks like we threw our efforts into Langdon and we failed. We’ve got no currency for Steven May and everyone else has been associated with a move to Victoria.

Easy up. Langdon just played in a grand final, playing the best football of his career. His manager stated from the start (seemingly before the medical/bids) that his preference was to stay at Collingwood. It was always a bit of a long-shot.

Finlayson looks more realistic at this stage...Assuming he wants to stay in Sydney, and GWS are willing to trade with us... 2 big assumptions.

Langdon just got a decent increase in the contract offer from the Pies and just two years means he's backing himself to improve over that time and strike an even better deal going forward.

Just looked at the numbers, we can match a Blakey bid from pick 7 onwards using 26 & 33 leaving us a handy block of 38, 39, 40 to take three draftees. With pick 9 going from Essendon to GWS for Sheil and the very strong top part of the draft, I'd suspect that Blakey will most logically get bid on by GWS at pick 9 so we'll need to match after discount 1175 points, thats picks 26 & 33 with a pick in the 60s coming back. Let's hope eh?

2018 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel

Hi all, I don’t post here very often (lurker) but I found this on Twitter. Normally I’d look past this kind of thing but the second tweet was the Hannebery trade the day before it happened, so it gave food for thought.

Doos Radio Ascot Vale on Twitter: "Some recent news coming from Sydney,

We have heard some juice involving a potential move for NSW for Steven May,

Is this the big fish the Swans have been clearing cap space for?

                      #doosradio
                      @AFLTradesRumour @Ruga1993 @francisd17 @traderadio @sam_mcclure"

Doos Radio Ascot Vale on Twitter: "Speculation increasing we have heard this a few times at Doos Radio,
Saints give pick 39 and next years second round
Swans give Hannerbery and pick 28

Sent through by @Ruga1993 backing this call in as we have heard the same mail from our insider up in Sydney"

Hannebery trade was lodged on AFL website at 9:01am on 12/10, the following day, the tweet was 1:57pm on 11/10.

Steven May would cost a lot of money as a contract but he wants to leavthe suns it appears

Guessing the suns may accept our first round next year ? And maybe our pick 26 this year ?

                        May
                        Melican
                        AA
                        Grundy
                        Rampe
                        Maibaum

It’s not our go normally we try and go for value development in the backline and use the money elsewhere

But .. Steven May frees up AA or Rampe to play as the spare which then allows us faster drive on the transition from a left footed Rampe or a long hand passing AA for quick transitions

Hmmmm May would be wanting $750k pa minimum???

I'd prefer May to Hogan. May has always played well against us. His only Brownlow vote in the recent season was in their victory over us (23 possessions, 14 marks (4 contested)). I am a little concerned about his character - he'd be departing the Suns mid-contract, as captain, which feels a bit off.

I'd also be happy with Jonas or Howard from Port. As far as I'm aware though, none of those guys have Langon's ability to play small as well as tall which may be a reason we preferred him.

Still three days to go but if you’re looking for a positive, this year’s underwhelming trade period so far mirrors West Coast’s last year. Their only player brought in was Brendan Ah Chee for a future 3rd round. They also did some very good pick swap trading with Gold Coast.

Not sure we did good pick swapping so far. But there are 3 days left
