So just to confirm, we need to get through the first 6 picks without a bid for us to be able to keep our 3 picks in a row being 38,39 and 40?

The AFL draft live feed on the site doesn’t mention our pick 26 , it says west coast hold pick 26? Shows our first pick at 33

There must be a second thing coming back to us surely...

This sounds a bit dodgy - it surely must be one half of a trade, with the other half to be announced once Blakey has been bid on.

Someone’s going have to explain that to me. Assuming WC are one of the top sides next year, that pick will be around low 50s.

Yeh there must be a missing bit in there somewhere..

It's got to have something to do with Blakey not going in the first 6.

You would assume there is a 3rd part to the trade - well you would hope or we seem to be getting jipped badly.

This is on fox footy as a suggestion:

With Nick Blakey's bid not coming in the top 6, Sydney trade out Pick 26 to West Coast. Future 3rd round pick comes back which could be as far back as pick 54 in 2019. Interesting. Pick 33, 38, 39 will be enough to match him. Pick 26 was going to be wiped anyway. @FOXFootyLive

Seems odd we would trade out that pick for a future 3rd rounder, even if its going to be burnt in the Blakey trade. Now we will see those 3 picks burnt up to some degree as well... there must be a logic somewhere, but I can't quite see it yet.

Wait for us to trade that pick back to the Eagles for a pick in the 20 s after we’ve used our later picks on Blakey. Bit of a repo.

It still doesn’t make sense , why offload it and use the other picks to match him when they could’ve been live picks ?

I like the idea in general but I think the return is too low in this specific case.

That's gold. What's in it for West Coast?

We’re going to draft fewer players so don’t need so many picks??
