He actually said, "At different stages.....they were getting away with blue murder too." Not quite the same and he was talking about defensive blocking of opposition players going for marks, not everywhere and in all situations......but expect the Swans 'defensive tactics' to be scrutinised next week anyway. Clarko seems to have an influence, especially with his umpy mates.

Every time the Hawks lose Clarkson has a whinge. He must have missed the blocking their backmen were getting and the dodgy marking infringement frees.

When the Parker incident happened in front of me I thought he would be in trouble. After seeing replays I was hoping he would be ok because he correctly turned his body and was going for the ball. Some of the commentators on the radio this morning seemed to think the same thing. But you never know when it comes to the head. I was very happy to hear the news that he was cleared.

At the game you could see his natural ability to lead in the forward line. He presented on many occasions and players were confident to kick to him. Many times he led up to about the 50 metre line. Even if he was ignored he kept making himself available. The experiment wasn't wasted because we won. He was knocked off the contest a bit because he hasn't bulked up yet. Also liked his second efforts and chasing but he was cooked at the end. With natural improvement he is going to be a pretty good player.

If you look at the replay of the disallowed Roughy mark in the last quarter I am sure the umpire calls "holding". You see Grundy trying to get to the contest but is well and truly held by the arm and pushed away from the contest. During the commentary they said Clarko said during the week that a lot of blocking is deemed too technical and should be let go. Yet in his after match he bemoans the decision. On SEN this morning someone made the comment that Hawthorn has had a pretty good run from the umps in the past 5 years.

Great win! I used to think that the Swans were reliant on either Buddy or JPK. Last night was showed that we could win with others stepping up. A couple of my observations:

* Harry C possibly played his best game for the swans. I?ve been guilty of suggesting he should be one of the first dropped. He gave Isaac Smith a lesson last night.

* While I?m admitting to my errors, I have to also congratulate Robinson. 20 possessions at 85% efficiency is nothing to sneeze at. I thought he was done but but he was more than handy.

* McCartin had a better game than his numbers suggest. He did his job well providing a target for our smalls to crumb off. However, his kicking is terrible at the moment. I?m told that the academy kids need to kick a ball 400 times a day. This could be McCartin?s homework too. I also loved how his younger brother raved about how he loved this club already during roving Brian.

* As others have said, I loved Ronke?s 6th goal also. He broke a few ankles with his fakes and shimmies before he slotted it. His 2nd goal showed how lightning fast he is.

* Our young guys are really trending nicely. If Ronke wasn?t a lock for the rising star nomination, Oli Florent would?ve been a chance with his 25 possessions.

* Lastly, a win like this helps keep some of our ?supporters? quiet about Longmire for a few moments. Well done Horse.

Just have to say also really loved florents game . Showed polish and pace and got more involved than he has previously. 25 touches. That really excited me. I think he is going to be a serious player.

Similar sentiments have been mentioned already, but two of my highlights were:

a) Sicily having a go at an umpire at the end of the match - feeling betrayed by your buddies eh?
b) Clarko saying we got away with blue murder with our ("illegal") defence on their forwards

They have had so many free kicks over the years, they feel entitled to all calls going their way, and feel aggrieved when if it doesn't!

I used to have a bit of respect for Clarkson as a person and a coach, but after that winging crap from the coach of a team that has its own # tag of freekickhawthorn after all the favoritism they have had for quite a while I think he is a pathetic, winging for NO REASON, piece of @@@@. All respect I had for him is gone.

I don't recall Clarkson being this pathetic in defeat before (but maybe he just hasn't had the practice). The bleating about blocking seems like misdirection, but his comments about Ronke, which only really serve to diminish the third-gamer's achievements, are a bit strange:

?I don?t think he saw it coming, Horse (coach John Longmire) wouldn?t have seen it coming, we didn?t see it coming ? and full credit to the kid,? Clarkson said.

?They?ve kicked 10 goals and he?s kicked seven of them, so they didn?t need ?Bud? after all. It?s a bit stiff, because some of those balls just drop in his lap.

?Over the course of the night we had probably four or five opportunities on some of those goals he got where it looked like we were going to be in control of that play and we drop a mark (and) he slips out the back.

?Why wasn?t our bloke on him? Well, our guy was taking off expecting us to mark it and it?s slipped out the back.

?They?re the swings and roundabouts of the game. We allowed Sydney to kick some easy goals out the back, which hurt us at the end of night.?

The suggestion that Ronke was just 'lucky' or 'cheating' out the back of the pack on 4-5 of his goals is garbage when you look at the way he played and scored throughout the night.
