They weren't icing greens legs so I would say precautionary. Dawson would be a big loss, and deludio is only selected on reputation so no loss.

He adds to them, for sure, but Kelly's return has been what has made the most difference. They started looking like a good team again before Greene came back.Comment

Anyone else disgusted with the narrative developing around "poor Andrew Gaff" ? He's probably broken a teenager's jaw behind play, and the commentary is all about how upset and remorseful he is. Not how a teenager is in hospital. Nauseating. Only equalled by the behaviour of the WCE crowd.Comment

Sunday sure was different to Saturday. Suns over the last 2 weeks makes our loss all the more mystifying. I'm increasingly sure that game was more about bad attitude than personnel.
Just saw the Gaff incident...he is in a world of trouble. Won't be surprised if he's gone for the season. Pretty dumb when your team is a good chance for finals.Comment

What a weekend, the AFL were loving it up to last night, five games decided by four points or less, score reviews all ok (ha ha), all good in the AFL world then -
Carlton 22 fit men capitulate to 18 fit men with sometimes only 16 on the field, Gold Coast are a shambles yet again then an act of thuggery in the west has a players mother distressed in the stands and him off to hospital for surgery.
Just saw the incident, bigger wind up than Bugg, much more damage, 6 weeks minimum, should be more for an ugly act of thuggery regardless of Gaff's clean record. This is a very bad look, the AFL will rightly be concerned.Comment

That is on par with Barry Hall's hit for me. Disgusting. I think if the AFL are going to bring in changes, I would two alterations in this area. Firstly a red card would be appropriate. Immediate send off with no return or substitute. The Eagles should field a team which is one short for the remainder of the match. Secondly, Gaff should not be allowed to play another senior game until Brayshaw is back. The suspension should equal the damage done to the opposition.Comment

The red card/black card question is a very interesting one. How likely is it that it will go horribly wrong and someone will be issued with their marching orders for something innocuous? How much of a penalty is it to be playing a man down? (Clearly not so bad if you're playing Carlton, but I mean against a decent team). How much of a deterrent is it to be down a rotation?
Not sure what the answer is, but I have every confidence that the AFL will have some stupid idea as an answer, stuff up the implementation and then claim all the decisions are right.Comment
