You might be on to something.
Would Blakey be another one? I've no real idea of his personality, but since he's the son of a coach, there's a chance that things like tactics and leadership were part of his upbringing.

The reason I nominated Warner is because, according to a story narrated in one of the Conversations with Cal podcasts, in his very first pre-season, before he'd ever played a game, Chad Warner declared he would be a future captain of the club. Since then he has walked the walk - so I don't discount it. Otherwise I wouldn't necessarily be picking him. It's a great story and deserves remembering if ever he does become captain. I'll be remembering it.

Well, I think Jim Morrison put forward the proposition that a lizard could be king.

Maybe he would bask in the role

That's a great story Bloodspirit re Chad.

I can't remember where I saw it, but recall Horse talking about one of the first, if not the first, time he met Mills - and apparently Mills starting asking questions about and drilling into his game plan. He was barely 16yo at the time and Horse went home and told his wife he'd met a future captain.

I think Horse may have told the Mills story in one of those 'Longmire' episodes.

The story with Chad went that they were at an end of season event in Vaucluse and Heeney took his top off and then Chad followed suit and took his top off and declared he would be a future captain of the club.

See Conversations with Cal - Whooshkaa at about the 22 minute mark.

If The Bloods was still here, he’d flip at the mention of Rowie but it’s a good call. I’ll be interested to see if Chad wants it, or if he’s like Heeney, who apparently wasn’t that fussed by it and has a bit more of a happy-go-lucky personality. The other one rated internally is McInerney, but his priority for this season is obviously getting his body right and full form back.

As for the Crows, if that is happening, it just shows how far off it they still are.
His grand final performance suggests Warner wants it. I think he's maturing quickly.

Taylor has a lot to offer in State or regional leagues (he was a big possession winner in our Reserves) but no longer up to AFL level.

I heard today on SEN radio that James Bell is bound for Glenelg in the SA league. I think he will do well at that level.

Jesse White signing up with SANFL North Adelaide for the 2023 season.

“Once a Swan and a Magpies, the 34-year-old will run out for the Roosters next season, returning to the South Australian competition a full three seasons after calling time on his tenure with Glenelg.”

                                LOL!

For a Lizard, he seems surprisingly passionate and hot blooded enough
