Unfortunately all the desirable trade moves we are suggesting get put on hold whilst Daniher is still in play, rather messes up our trade period.
I'm worried about players nominating Saints as of all clubs they probably have the least chips to get fair trades done. We'll get unders for Jones because he's been offered bigger $ at Saints :-(
I'm another who thinks that the AFL should close the loophole in trying to get another top player before your F/S-NGA-Academy player. Would laugh if GWS gave up heaps to get pick 4 from Crows then had Dees bid on him at pick 3, that would be the start of the end of the start up largesse handed to GWS. Please make it happen footy gods.
Oh, and while you're at it footy gods, get Dodo to do a quick deal IF we're getting Daniher.Comment

Apparently Uncle Terry is disappointed that Joe wants to move to the Swans.
An alternative take on the possible trade: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...09-p52z6b.htmlComment

Maybe the Dodo's exposure over #Coxgate will make him follow Ryan's advice? Today I think that if the Bombers hold out on Daniher this year, he's still going to want to leave in a year's time. So it's in their interest to trade him now if they can get a better pick than they'd get a FA compo. Pick 5 OR 9 would be that pick.Comment

Thanks for thoughtful replies liz, AB Swannie and Markwebbos. Venables is a good suggestion. I don't know much about him but I remember he looked very promising in his draft year (was that the same draft we got Florent and Hayward - and Brisbane got Witherden?). If he's not getting a game and not about to get one he could indeed be gettable and ready to go. waswan, do you have anything to say about Venables? Any other WA footy watchers out there?
I have been supportive of the idea of swapping Cameron (not necessarily in a direct swap) for a pure ruckman to back up Naismith. Thus I was disappointed to read that Tom Nicholls has retired. Perhaps Sinclair becomes the 1st back-up while Knoll continues to develop and we rely on the ruck stocks and players we already have to fill the gap (not really a "void") and don't worry about grabbing an extra ruck at this stage. We do have a number of players with some rucking ability developing: Knoll, Amartey, McLean. I can't see Amartey getting selected other than to ruck while we have so many other talls in front of him, Reid, McCartin, Melican and Sinclair in particular. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Thanks Jimitron5000 and Captain for drawing attention to Pete Ryan's article. No news but a relatively pro-Swans take from an esteemed commentator. A few comments below it that give an idea of the range of thinking on the issue. All opinions are not equal. Neither were we when we recruited Buddy, Mills and Heeney, or swapping picks with West Coast after Blakey slipped enough in the draft. Doing nothing wrong and playing by the rules is one thing. Being successful as a result is something else entirely. & I’m not on the anti-NSW/anti-non-Vic bandwagon, I’m on the leave my Swans alone bandwagon. I couldn’t give a rats about GW$, any Victorian club or any team from SA, WA or Qld.Comment

Just found this in depth exploration of the potential JD trade, although it was posted 4 days ago: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...04-p52xqk.html. Worth a look. All opinions are not equal. It feels like there should be an arbitration process in place for trading given some of the demands being made!Comment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Things hotting up a bit.
*Reports Fantasia staying put, which might allow Dodo to focus on the Daniher deal
*Ditto reports Saints swapping pick 6 with Giants for 12 and 18. I hope they sent 18 our way for Jones and that deal is done.Comment

I think 12 + 18 might be for Brad Hill.Comment
