Obviously Reid would need to agree but he is from Melbourne so he might. From the Dons point of view, he is a good, versatile tall with substantial experience and a good age with still plenty of years left in the tanks. This might also explain why the Dons haven't so far shown much interest in Jenkins. Any chance? If we did trade him, we would want him to be valued fairly. What if they wanted pick 5 or pick 9 and Reid? (Obviously we'll all be much happier with pick 9, assuming we get it.)
Sam has a young family and a Sydney wife. I think they'll be staying in Sydney even after Sam retires. Sydney is his home now.

Stick to your guns Dodo. I'm behind you all the way. And even more important, AnnieH is in front of you, so don't even think about escaping. Your players want Joe to stay at Essendon, and so do we.

Question for you all - from a trade perspective who is worth more, Ben Brown or Joe Daniher?

The implicit suggestion that Joe has fallen 'out of love' with EFC (and not just the Melbourne lifestyle) bodes well for our prospects of getting him next year. However, Ludwig and others need to stop thinking we will get him for free. Unless we pay him massive overs (which I hope we don't) then EFC will match and force us to trade, albeit you'd think for less than he'd cost now although that might depend on his form next year. If he proves he has recovered from injury and regained form he might not be cheaper. This is the whole reason EFC supporters and pundits like Lloyd think they should hold on to him for now. For all his clear bias, Lloyd is way more informed about the JD situation and the EFC's priorities than we are.

I think it might be time for you and Annie to start up a fundraising campaign to "Keep Joe At Essendon". The money raised could be
paid to the Swans as an enticement to not trade him in, or paid to Essendon to cover the cost of draping every square inch of their
training facility and admin offices with red and black "We Love You, Joe, We Really Do" banners. I'm more than happy to make a
decent donation to kick things off.

“We’ve made it perfectly clear in regards to Joe, our intention is to keep him,” said Essendons Dodoro

“It is about consolidation as a club. You can’t trade in big names every year. We think we are in a really sound position.”

Dodoro confirmed the club have had three discussions with Sydney, but Essendon’s position had not changed.

“We don't think this draft can replace a player like Joe,” he said.

“He's valued at our club and we can't see a reason why he can't fall back in love with our club.”
Dedoro addressed a Price Waterhouse Coppers breakfast this week as the guest speaker, updating the audience on the Daniher situation. Melbourne very bizarre environment re sport and business. As far as Swans concerned, puts more pressure on Dedoro to stick to his guns. No way we should give 2 first rounders! Happy to pass and hang on to Papley.

It depends what you want out of a Key forward. Ben brown doesn’t take many spectacular hangers or kick snags from 65m our on the boundary. But he is bloody consistent, can out mark most defenders in the comp on the lead because of his reach and height, is a very reliable set shot , and he kicks goals . Lots of them . Oh, and he stays on the park too . Oh and one more , he’s the only forward in the comp who has kicked 60 + goals in all of his past 3 seasons.

Based on actual real output he’s worth twice as much as Joe, maybe three time as much .

But based on the ability to do the special things , to win a match off one’s own boot, to get eyes on the Tv , to sell memberships and get punters through the turnstiles, he’s worth a bit less than ( a fit ) Joe Daniher.

It's all posutring from Dodoro, last year he was similarly presenting a false bravado when trying to negotiate the Shiel to Essendon trade. He was adamant for most of the trade period that the Bombers wouldn't part with 2 first rounders and finally in the last few hours he crumbled and acquiesced to the Giants's demands.

It's Jones, Papley and our pick 25 for 1 player who is a 90% chance to get to us for nothing next year, assuming he's not injured.

How is that a GOOD deal. Our whole management team should be sacked if we get shafted like that.

Buddy Franklin would have been worth no less than 3 top ten picks in 2013, but we go him for nothing. Richmond got Tom Lynch for nothing. That's why they're premiers and favourites to go again next year.

We are not in a position to give away anything. We need a list management team that's smart and tough. I think we have that, but reserve the right to reevaluate next week.
If we can trade in Daniher and still keep our pick 5 then YES it is a GOOD deal IMO. But like I said, there's basically no chance of that happening. And remember, Jones and Papley want out...

That is true but history tells us that we normally get the @@@@ end of the stick with most of our trades the last 5 or so years. It's not often that I've said, yep we had a good win with that one lately! Especially when we have traded out players.

Ruthless? I wouldn't have thought the picks we got back were really impressive. Yes they both ended up having average to poor years in the end but they were reasonably big name players that went out for not much back in.

I shouldn't watch those Trading Day shows on Fox. They have us giving up 5 + 9 (Papley) + Reid or McCartin to get the Daniher deal done!

That would make it the most expensive trade EVER done for a guy battling OP.

Please walk away from this, take 5 to the draft and review if we want to release Papley or hold him to his contract.

They should be paying us part of his salary and take a third rounder!

You know what if Essendon continue the hard line and say they aren't trading Joe out then that's fine with me! We'll perhaps have another look next year if he's still interested.

I would be happy enough if we traded out Papley for pick 9 and then Jones out for either 12 or 18 and giving back our pick 25 perhaps.

It would be removing 2 players that have expressed a desire to jump ship and then gives us an oppourtunity to attack this supposedly fairly even, yet talented draft with 3 first round picks that could set us up, along with our 2 academy young guns next year, for the next 10 years!

I'd be really excited to see what Dalrymple and Co. would produce for us with those picks on draft night!
