Dylan Stephens, talented Norwood draftee, is an interesting option and apparently Longmire had a good session with him and impressed Stephens. Stephens playing senior footy with Norwood last season and has many AFL clubs interested. Gaff type of player

He's probably in the wrong range for us unless we move up or down in the first round.Comment

Interesting that we delist both Pink and Maibaum. Leaves us very thin in the KPD stakes. Any draftee KPD would be unlikely to make a big contribution in 2020.
So our only established KPDs are Rampe, Melican and Aliir with McCartain, Reid, McLean and Amartey as potentials.
For 2020, I would opt for Reid to play predominantly down back as I view McCartain as our long term CHF option with Sinclair playing the forward / ruck role.Comment

Smart decision to consider improving our depth in the forward pocket / midfield rotation with a little experience via Sam Gray at a reasonable price
He is a high pressure player who can kick a goal a game and also is generally in around 5 score involvements a game which is significant
If Lewis Taylor has been brought in as a midfielder as per our Swans website Comms then sam Gray would be more forward pocket u would guess ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

We must be recruiting at least 1 DFA as we only have 31 senior players on the list now. I figure we go to the draft with our 1st 4 selections, elevate Bell to the senior list and make room for another Cat B from the Academy. That would leave 2 primary list and 2 rookie list selections to go. So could be 2 DFAs that we know we can sign. Bennell must be one of them, especially that he met with JPK. Could be some announcements on Friday.
Maibaum could our last rookie selection.
Clearing the KPP decks to make room for Joe next year. I think both McLean and Amartey have a future in the AFL. I'd like to try McLean as a defender and keep Amartey as forward/ruck.
I've got a good feeling about Barry O'Connor as well. Not for next year, but he could be a player, And maybe Thurlow can step up next year.
We really aren't that shallow in the KPD department, but we have a few young players to sort out next year and see what they can do at AFL level.Comment

I agree with you, barry. Ludwig first suggested this near the end of the trade period and I thought it was a good suggestion then. liz subsequently said it depends on whether we think they might take a player that we have our heart set on with their extra pick, which I thought was a good point too. And obviously the amount they are willing to give us to trade up also comes into the picture. I'd be happy with a future second rounder (provided it doesn't mean missing out on a player we have our hearts set on).
We wouldn't miss out on a player because our picks don't move.
Is a big bonus for GWS, so they will come to the table with a good offer. Probably an upgrade of 2nd to 1st round next year. Then we can pull off the same deal in reverse.Comment

I thought an Adelaide based swans supporter might be a subscriber etc and may be able to view"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Article doesn’t mention Sydney but says Sam Gray will not be at Port next year. They only offered him a one year deal and he wants 2.Comment
