Really?
The Joe Daniher Cup: Wantaway Don not waiting long to face Swans in 2020 - AFL.com.au
Two quotes of note:
"The Swans courted Daniher in the back half of 2019 but were unable to facilitate a trade with the Bombers to lure him out of Tullamarine."
Did we really? This Victorian based speculation seems to be accepted AFL fact now.....
"In round eight last year, the Swans escaped with a controversial five-point win over the Bombers. Co-captain Dane Rampe was fined post-match for climbing a goalpost in the dying stages.".....with yet another posting of the AFL tweet quoting the rule re: climbing the goalposts.
Yes, yet another official reminder to AFL fans as to why they should be negative towards the Swans. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Port don’t want to delist Sam Gray. I get the impression they want him to find a new club first. Sydney are now interested @7NewsMelbourne @triplemfooty

I'd also be pretty happy with a player like Schoenberg (?) or Cooper Stephens at 25. I'd be interested in Bergman if he slips that far. However, I entirely trust our recruiters to know who we want. They did great with Rowbottom at this pick last year.
ugg, very interesting news re Sam Gray, if there is any substance in it. Surprising. Would certainly explain the delisting of Hirst if it's true. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

A not particularly illuminating article about the non-trade of Riley Knight referencing Swans' interest in him and his meeting with Longmire: Crow stays in the nest after Sydney interest falls through - AFL.com.au. Most interesting bit is that it seems to suggest we didn't recruit him because we got Taylor and kept Papley so didn't need him.
So we're linked to Sam Gray, he's free of course but do we need a 176cm buzzing/pressure forward/mid?Last edited by 707; 30 October 2019, 04:10 PM.Comment

I agree with you, barry. Ludwig first suggested this near the end of the trade period and I thought it was a good suggestion then. liz subsequently said it depends on whether we think they might take a player that we have our heart set on with their extra pick, which I thought was a good point too. And obviously the amount they are willing to give us to trade up also comes into the picture. I'd be happy with a future second rounder (provided it doesn't mean missing out on a player we have our hearts set on).Comment

Sounds like the Sam Gray rumours might be true.
What does it do to our KPD stocks or is McCartin going to play back?Comment

I think the signs on McCartin going back have been there for a bit.
Melican seemed to lose confidence towards the end of the year (though I think he can recover). And I hope Maibaum is re-rookied as everything suggested he was close to a game at the start of the year before the knee. But we're clearly down on a key defender, and McCartin plays exceptionally well when he does go back. Plus, there is a trend back towards sides playing at least two, and occasionally three taller forwards so Aliir and Rampe need the help.
I can also see a re-geared forward line next year, with Sinkers the big bodied, pack crasher if Naismith comes good in the ruck; Reid doing the thing he does (let's not start that argument); and hints over the off season they wanted Buddy playing higher and roaming to spare his body and use his foot skills. And Blakey spending more time on a wing.
Then, rotate Papley, Hayward, Ronke/Gray through as smaller players, as well as a resting mid like Parker or Heeney.
I know there are a few ifs and buts in that, but it seems to be roughly where we are heading.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment
