That is craziness, he's barely played in the last 2 years.

Wait and watch it unfold. For the record I don't agree with us doing it but know the scumbags won't accept our 2nd round pick with either 5 or 9.

There is a video on Dane Rampe released today on the afl website

It shows he was the 2nd best key defender to Jeremy McGovern no1

It showed how much attack this year he added to his game

But even more importantly the video then shares how for a team that only won 8 games we had the 2nd highest win percentage in AFL history for 8 games won only

Interestingly the team that was the no1 for 8 games won in a season (highest percentage wins) was none other then also the Sydney Swans in 1995 ........who then went onto 1996 and won 16 games and won the minor premiership

          Interesting stat !!!

Conversely though Collingwood were 3rd in this stat for afl history in 1995, but didn’t kick along much the next year increasing to 9 wins only in 1996 and in 1997 10 wins only

          BUT

Adelaide were 5th in this stat in the year 1996 and did jump to 13 wins the next year 1997 and came 4th on the ladder but went on to win the premiership in 1997 and same again next year won 13 games in 1998 but then won the premiership !!!!

Have I underestimated our trajectory of wins for 2020? I was guessing approx 11 or 12 wins max

If the club perceives we are more on trajectory to win 13 to 15 wins next year with a fit squad firing then I can see the push for JD for 2020 and to have the weapons to take on a premiership window

Interesting video . The data analyst was asked what area of the ground we needed to focus on to bounce back into contention . Surprisingly the answer wasn’t another million dollar forward . No. It was the midfield group . Hopefully the club recognise this too and use picks 5 and ( if paps leaves ) 9 on attracting talented midfielders , not injury prone forwards !

2019 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel

Through work I speak semi- regularly with a source close to the Florent family, and according to this person the Swans are very keen on Ryan Byrnes of the sandy dragons ( who the florent family are heavily involved with ). To the extent that Ollie’s mum was called by the club to ask about his character etc . Don’t know much about him but a quick read up shows him as a reliable ball winner , who uses it well on both sides and possesses just a touch of breakaway speed to allow him to get some separation from the stoppage. I haven’t seen his name come up in any phantom drafts so he might come pretty cheaply too. Does anyone follow the TAC cup and have an opinion on this kid ?

              * Byrnes that should be

                Melb blood

Tony Lockett joined the swans in 1995 and 1996 we almost won a premiership !!!!

I was trying to remember :

Did the swans and or Adelaide recruit heavily in the midfield / ruckman in 1995 and 1996 respectively ?

I don’t remember that the swans did besides Stuart maxfield (outside mid not inside mid for clearances) and can’t remember Re Adelaide but Mcleod etc emerged at Adelaide so internal improvement from memory

So it appears that our organic growth in the midfield / ruck was very high in development from 1995 to 1996 and no doubt we improved dramatically at shutting down teams in our own defensive arc and obtaining more points when kicking at goal via the inclusion of new recruit TONY LOCKETT

It would have been fascinating to see the stats on clearances from 1995 to 1996 for us and the same for Adelaide 1996 to 97/98

Maybe our club thinks our midfield has a lot of improvement in them and we will get better value upfront with even more strike power just like they did recruiting LOCKETT

JD rolling out of a centre clearance is scary at a shorter SCG ground for parts of his FF / ruck rotation

“Captain Ryan Byrnes had 26 disposals, six inside 50s, five clearances and booted a goal in the Dragons’ massive victory“

Hasn’t made the top30 phantom draft

That’s not how I remember it.

On another matter, I listened to a recording of Tom Harley on Trade Radio with Barrett and Lloyd just now. He repeatedly answered questions on his catch up with Daniher earlier in the year, only for Lloyd to basically call him a liar, without actually using those words, right at the end.

Now I’m one who tends to blanch at the anti-Vic stuff that goes on here at times, but this to me is beyond the pale. A club CEO who gives up his time to be interviewed by a media outlet related to the official league website should be able to without being accused in such a manner by an obviously partisan former player.

And I have to agree with Lloyd: given he is irreplaceable for the Bombers, they will play hard ball this trade period. And unless we offer Joe a Buddy style contract next year, the Bombers will likely match our offer. Which will be very complicated if we want to draft Gulden & Campbell.
I don't think anyone has matched a RFA offer yet in the AFL.

The usual line that is trotted our every year.

“He’s a contracted player and we expect him here next year”

Said by every list manager all the time. What they’re really saying is “he’s not leaving we still want him but”.........”if you want him so much you can pay through the nose”

Happens all the time from way back to Anthony Rocca right through to Papley/Daniher today. Most times it gets done in the last day.

Don’t waist this week listening to trade radio n garbage like that. Look for updates each morning then watch/listen the last day.

Crows told Geelong they would with Dangerfield because he was going for salary unders of $750k, so ended up a trade, pick 9, 20 something and an SA boy Gore who was a 40s pick for Geelong and amounted to nothing. Compo would have been 13/14 ish.

He’s not mentioned by draft watchers but based purely on numbers, he must go ok??? 25.4 disposals, 5.4 clearances, fairly even contested to uncontested possessions. Captain. Kicks both sides.
