I am not sure what point you are making. Are you suggesting this is not a big story at the moment or just taking the opportunity to pot Melbourne?
This has been the lead story on all the major AFL sports programs for the past 24 hours. The fact that they reside in Melbourne is largely irrelevant. They didn’t start this story either, by the way - that was Longmire’s doing (rightly or wrongly).Comment

I think the point he was making was if the Swans fall apart on field (and it is a big if, considering the possibilities of the result, and who knows what, if any, impact the discussion has had on players or the club), then the administration would need to address the situation with Longmire sooner rather than later, as may have been their intention. What happens from there is anyone’s guess.I didn't see AFL360. Was Whateley implying that if we got thrashed by the Bombers: (a) the club would want to sack Horse (b) he'd lose the players, or (c) want to jump ship? I can't imagine any of those would be true, even if losing to the Bombers means we miss the eight.Comment

I live in Melbourne and find the obsession and beat ups ridiculous. Slip of the tongue by Longmire becomes a huge issue. Very shallow reporting. You are obviously entitled to your opinion but, with respect, I think you are over reacting and not much has changed. Healy, Roos, Wilson and a number of others think the same. Will put my hand up if he leaves but don't think he will.I am not sure what point you are making. Are you suggesting this is not a big story at the moment or just taking the opportunity to pot Melbourne?

Aha!I think the point he was making was if the Swans fall apart on field (and it is a big if, considering the possibilities of the result, and who knows what, if any, impact the discussion has had on players or the club), then the administration would need to address the situation with Longmire sooner rather than later, as may have been their intention. I think I understand, so if the uncertainty over Longmire starts to affect the players performance, they'll need to fast-track his contract extension (or non-extension)Comment

Yes. I don't think he's leaving. I think his interview weirdness is just his scorn of media scuttlebutt. After the ordinary start to the season I wanted to see how Longmire would get us up and going. He's done that with a very young team and with a collection of in-game injuries that have left us key players short for extended periods. He's a terrific coach and coaching well too. If he goes, so be it. And for a replacement..I don't think we have to look any further than North Melbourne. Rhyce Shaw will be an outstanding coach.Comment

Yes. I respected Whateley on the ABC, but he's lost it for his commercial work. The reported suggestion this will 'come to a head' if we lose to Essendon is preposterous.

Yes, but it would be the first loss in a month with the team undermanned and clearly regenerating with promise. A loss to Essendon would not be indicative of anything significant.I think the point he was making was if the Swans fall apart on field (and it is a big if, considering the possibilities of the result, and who knows what, if any, impact the discussion has had on players or the club), then the administration would need to address the situation with Longmire sooner rather than later, as may have been their intention. Not sure if that was Caroline Wilson who made that comment on SEN (she is on 3AW). On FC last night Caro was of the opinion the Swans haven't offered a contract to John as yet & even speculated if they'll do so, suggesting the club might think a change is in order! Kane Cornes reckons we shouldn't offer John a contract extension of no greater than 3 years to avoid situation at Freo when they extended Ross Lyon's contract by 5 years. Lloyd & Hutchy were of the opinion John will most likely decide to stay.
Heard John Ralph on AFL Tonight say that the Swans will be table a 4 year contract offer to John soon, worth 1.2 million per year. He was also convinced John won't be going anywhere.Comment

So 3 years on top of 2020 bringing it to end of 2023? Sounds right. Not sure if that was Caroline Wilson who made that comment on SEN (she is on 3AW).
