I think the belief that we can beat any team on the day gives the players a greater intensity and competitiveness during the game.

I thought there was a drop off last season when we became mathematically unlikely to play finals.

Give me a squad with the attitude of Luke Parker!

Mark McClure on 360 tonight when asked about the Swans' prospects for this season simply said that we are in a "re-build". The Club and all of us supporters need to recognise this reality and acknowledge that we will struggle for consistency and to win enough games to be a finalist.

They are a very ordinary team that, at times, made us look like kids in the wrong division.
            A couple of thoughts
. McCartin!! A big lump that really needs to do more than get two grabs and a couple of spoils. How long will he take to make it?? Hard to see him ever being a key player.
.Heeney. I am sick of hearing how he is so bloody skilled and talented. Show us CONSISTENTLY !! No, forget the injuries. He does not show consistent class.
. Coaching. Get some mongrel! Horse, Kenneally, Kirk were good players but are better suited for making speeches at fetes. Get a Rhys Shaw or Maxfield. Real dog fighters and teach our young players to be tough not latte drinking Maroubra pretty boys.
. And please, harvest Kennedy's heart and share it with the rest of the team. This guy NEVER plays a bad game. Trial or not.
This after 2 practice games Gunna be a long season

And horse has 2 practice games. Just when is he supposed trial players?

Maxfield is at our club. He can teach if that’s what they want. I’d say it’s a bit harsh to suggest Kirky didn’t have “mongrel” - I’ll never forget him having words to Nick Davis - words that changed the course of a final quarter.

Heeney is pure talent. I’ve just gotta call BS on your criticism there.

And McCartin? You’re a harsh judge when you question whether a 20 year old is ever going to be a key player.

It’s easy to be critical from the other side of a keyboard at times

The idea of a rebuild is that there should be improvement. We need to 'build' each season. If it technically began in 2019, with an 8 win, 15th-placed season, then we need to build on that this year to know that the rebuild is on track. If we have a worse season, that will raise serious questions about this rebuild. Particularly with the players between the 50 and 100 game mark, like Heeney, Hewett, Mills, Papley, Aliir, Dawson, Florent, and Hayward. If they aren't regularly influencing results for us enough, it might be time to ask questions about whether they're the group that will take us into flag contention.

Looking to be a season where the competition is as even as I can remember with, unlike almost very other year I can remember, no team at this stage looking like easy beats. For once I can't name a bottom four with any degree of certainty and if Gold Coast finally climb the ladder who is the probable Wooden Spooner? Injuries and home ground advantage will influence results like never before

Is our best 22 this year better than last year? Is our bottom six this year better than our bottom six before the start of last season?

Those writing us off as just making up the numbers this season are going a bit early with the negativity IMO. A season to look forward to, anything could happen, just enjoy the journey

I agree, 707. Apart from the top teams it's pretty even and hard to tip. And that's a good thing.

Looking forward to it kicking off next week! The nuisance is I have just started to learn cello (never played an instrument in my life, apart from a bit of recorder at school) and my weekly lesson clashes with our first match.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Luke has the right attitude in my opinion. It'd be a bit disappointing if he replied with "Well, we're struggling
a bit at the moment, the midfield is shot, Buddy will only be able to play ten games max, the new guys aren't developing as quickly as we'd like
and the older brigade (myself included) are a bit past their prime. But we're still hoping to win 9 or 10 games and finish just outside the eight.
Which would be a solid result considering where our list is at the moment".

True, but I'm still hoping to hear, a losing coach utter these words to the assembled media, "I'm sorry, but my game plan really was crap".

No I think it is going to be a very short season.

Perhaps begin with "Cheer, cheer" on the cello?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

No fear. I'm still figuring out how to hold the bow and haven't started coming to grips with what my left hand is meant to be doing!

I listened into the Tom Harley webinar tonight. He even answered a couple of my own questions which I was chuffed about. My first question was about the progress on the new training and admin facility. He said it's at least 12 months away. My second question was that our Sydney rival GWS seem to have a far more talented list than us at present and what are we doing to catch up? He said that they were in a much different stage of their list development than us with many of their stars in the 25 to 29 age bracket whereas our list is much younger.
