Interesting that the Swans web site mentions Jordan Foote's SANFL Grand Final performance. Are they short on content for their web site....or is there a re-draft in the wings????

Oh yeah, a customer of mine is known to the Hayward family...Port Adelaide are after Will Hayward, not Aliir.

Will Hayward? Their first round pick or no deal.

adelaide pick 20 or Port Adelaide pick 26 might get it done if we really want to go pick 3, Campbell, Gulden etc

Yet I cant help but think Hayward sideways if not backwards pathway in 2020 maybe a rebound in disguise

Imagine for a second this hypothetical scouting report on a potential draftee:

John Smith - not good enough to hold down a starting position but can play defence, forward, ruck or possibly wing when needed off the bench.

          Where would you draft him?

Evidently the Swans are showing interest in Jesse Hogan. According to channel seven. His attitude and professionalism are in question. What do people on this forum think about recruiting him? Personally I do not know enough about him to give an opinion.

That's the issue with Aliir, and why at 26 we probably would be open to trading him.

Whether it's Aliir who hasn't been good enough, worked hard enough etc, or that we haven't backed him in one position and let him flourish - the reality is we don't trust him as a key defender and don't have a role as a third tall intercepting defender when guys like Rampe, Dawson and now McCartin are back there and do that well.

Aliir has admirably taken on whatever makeshift role he's been given up forward or in the ruck - but neither are long-term options for him.

I think we've well-and-truly missed the boat in terms of grooming him into an agile, intercepting key defender (and maybe in fairness he was never going to have the defensive capability to be one anyway) - so if he stays he'll just be a makeshift utility which is OK for us to have up our sleeve, but I can definitely see why he'd be willing to look elsewhere if an opportunity came up, should another club had a dedicated role to hold down.

And we do need to get some picks back via these sorts of trades if we are going to trade in anyone, as well as possibly stocking up on later picks to prevent the 2021 deficit issue.

It's getting a bit desperate for us to expect a player would flourish and play their best footy at their third club.

You would only even contemplate it if it was virtually a free hit - trading a late pick which Freo accept just to get him off their books, and we offer an highly incentivised 2 year deal, for example.

Certainly not sold on Hogan in terms of attitude or behaviour. Chuck body in too for that matter, he hasn’t spent a heap of time in the park in his career. He was pretty bloody good In those very early years though. From what I can gather Freo are looking to salary dump and would probably pay some of his salary to get rid of him. In terms of chances, 3rd is likely the last, could be the ‘circuit breaker’ required to reignite him. Big gamble though.

I guess I would say yes, if part of his salary was paid for by Freo and they accepted little in return, a future third round for example.

A big no from me. Would much rather take a punt on McCartin Major. Hogan has proved himself to be a physical talent totally lacking in the temperament required to get to the top level. Think Harley Bennell.

If Allir wants to leave then that changes the situation. If we want to increase our depth then to trade him out dilutes our depth. I thought he played pretty well at the end of the season when he was let run loose.

On Hogan: Waswan hit the nail on the head when he said he was as dumb as. He looks like the sort of player that can't take or understand instructions. Over rated right from the start.

                        +1

I'm a big fan of getting Paddy McCartin basically for free rather than gambling on Hogan.....who is a huge risk.

Got a nice $8000 fine first day back in WA quarantine by having a girl come to his room, expensive slap and tickle wot! Don't need two of these idiots on the list.

There's a reason why two clubs have already given up on Hogan despite having talent.

On Adelaide TV news tonight the words were "Port have tabled an offer for Aliir". Port footy manager wouldn't comment on specific players but looked smug! This might give us either much needed points or a young ruck Hayes if it's true. Port have a highly rated NGA (Jones) to pay for and have no first round pick.

Interesting trade period coming up, Dodo dealing with (blocking) two and possibly three Essendon "escapees", Brad Crouch pick 2 or not, Cameron to Geelong, will Corr still go to LOLNorf given their emeging situation, Caldwell/Hateley/O'Halloran three first round super draftees all touted to be restless at GWS, oh, so much to play out

Wouldnt get rid of Hayward or Alir for either of those picks
We got Gould this year as a "steal" for a similar pick, a state captain SANFL grand final player and that netted us nothing, not a thing.

Here’s the SEN article about Port offering AA - a contracted player - a contract!

Power set to approach Swans defender in trade period

Swans chat 2020 DRAFT points system explained

FYI - I popped in another thread my guess at how the draft system works for bidding on Campbell with a lesser pick

I did this because i suspect it is much easier to refer to in a stand alone thread given the complexity of figs to review etc
