I disagree with you that 3 is enough, and that Hewett will be on the fringe. Father time will catch up with Josh Kennedy (albeit I don't want that to happen and next year I think GH will take over his spot).

As a comparison, Richmond over the year has had Prestia, Cotchin, Lambert, Graham players who aren't overly quick.. they are quick in mind, not necessarily legs. Albeit they have lightning speed on the outside to complement those afore mentioned players.

I appreciate Hewett is not razor fast, but neither was Diesel, nor is Selwood, Boak, Cotchin etc. Don't forget a team needs a core group of midfielders that can go inside the centre square... apart from Parker, JPK, Rowbottom, Sydney has no one.. as the Mills and Heeney experiment proved they will not cut it in the midfield.. they have been tried but to no great success. All the others you mentioned previously are all outside the midfield.

Kidding yourself if you think Rowbottom (happy 'N.O.B' critics?) is ahead of Hewett as an inside mid.

But I will humour you for a moment. Let's say a midfield with JPK, Parker, Rowbottom and Hewett would be too slow, and someone had to go, and we have this abundance of young midfield talent you are convinced of, why would we cut the 24 year old Hewett, and not the 32 year old JPK, who may very well be in his final year in 2021 anyway.

Has it not occurred to you that Hewett could benefit from playing and developing with JPK and Parker there? The only way to do that is by playing them together!

If we are going to go after Cameron, Brown, Carlisle, Cox and McCartin who are we going to clear out? and what are we going to offer that would be accepted? Fairly shallow analysis of our needs and current draft situation. I would be much happier with #3, Campbell, Gulden and reluctantly Hickey (prefer Hayes but probably we can't afford even him) as that will still require several more delistings. This is still all dependent on how much lists are reduced. We are stuck with list cloggers Gray and Squizzy who will sit on their contracts as no team will want them.

He's a very consistent player who can play many roles well. We know how Longmire rates these kind of players, and I think he's right to rate them highly.

If Hewett can't make our best 22, then we should easily be a top 4 team.
Exactly. He's in our top ten.

I never suggested cutting Hewett. Just not stressed that he hasn't re-signed as he isn't in my best 22 (assuming JPK plays).

He wasn't suggesting going after them all. It was that we need a gun full forward, a key defender and potentially rookie list McCartin. Basically 2 players on senior list and 1 rookie.

I see that Cameron has said he wants out of GWS and all the people in the know seem to think he wants to return to Victoria, specifically Geelong.

This bodes well for teams looking to raid some of their youth that are struggling to get a game and with them also supposed to get Higgins from North, even more so!

They will be looking to offload players and will want anything in the way of draft picks in return! We must look at a few of them, specifically Constable as he is a perfect JPK replacement (whether Hewett stays or not!) and could no doubt be got now for a 3rd or 4th rounder as they will be desperate to unload contracts for some extra cash!

Hewett is a smart user of the ball, is tough as nails, gets it himself or more importantly lock opposition players down. The coaches appreciate him and he didn't finish second in the B&F for no reason. Given he was injured, this past year is no representation of his worth to our side.

Captain, I think you are smoking something if you feel that Hewett is not in our best 22.
George is a great tagger, but with ball in hand....not so good. Has proved that he isn't anywhere near a centre clearance beast.

But hasn't that happened somewhat for the last few years.

Cameron is going to Geelong, and I don't think any of the others will compliment our team.

Yes, big news on Cameron. I don't know how Geelong can afford him? If it was us being linked to him, there would be an enquiry. This decision means that the GWS premiership dream is looking somewhat darker now. I must say that I am surprised that he did not stay.

George not good with ball in hand??????? You have got to be kidding!

If there is a knock on George is that he is slow and does not get as much of the pill as he should have. But his kick and handball skills are above average

That is certainly an indictment on the coach. The way he was coached and used this year reflects what he is about to do now.
Is Esava poachable? Is he good enough?

Also we know what Giants are going to do. Force Geelong to pay 2 first round draft picks. And try and push to Second draft pick by combining draft picks for North Melbourne and try and take Logan McDonald or Riley Thilthorpe to replace Jeremy. They may go for Jesse Hogan too !
