    C Florent Rowbottom Blakey

    HF Heeney Franklin McInerny

    F Papley Reid Hayward

    Foll Hickey Parker Kennedy

    Interchange t.McCartin, Stephens, Hewett, Fox

    23.Sinkers

    24.Campbell?

    25.Gulden?

    26.Taylor squizz

    27.Brand

    28.Oriordan

    29.Gould

    30.Clarke

    31.Warner

    32.Ling

    33.Gray

    34. McLean

    35. Naismith

    36. Amartey

    37. Pick3?

    TBC 7 players?

    Paddy McCartin?

    Ronke

    Foot

    Wicks

    Thurlow

    Oconnor

    E.Taylor?

    ET i suspect won't stay

Thurlow i would swap for an experienced cheap key defender even as a rookie

I'd be happy to let go Foot and Ronke and persist with Wicks as we will also be trying to give Gulden and Campbell easy roles pressure forward game time no doubt. Develop them asap for a 2022/2023 assault on the top4

That leaves us a few other rookie/ category spots then ?

Hadn't that already been announced? I'm sure I read it somewhere during the trade week. Maybe it was just being considered?

It's good news and it probably benefits us more than most other clubs because we have two fairly highly rated Academy players we want to draft. So gratitude for that.

But it also benefits a large number of clubs this year and so it still irks me that we're the poster children for the free draft hit. It just feeds a populist narrative in the rest of the competition, which I think is unwarranted, that we get favourable treatment (COLA, Academy etc) from the AFL even though, if anything, the opposite is the case (removal of COLA despite higher cost of living, issues attracting talent to the club at times, trade ban).

What about the Doggies getting JUH, best player in the draft, in the final year of the now-discredited NGA scam plus this (not unreasonable given the shemozzle with list sizes etc) loosening of the rules on using lower picks to match bids?

AA gone an experienced KPP would give us flexibility in the backline for depth........definitely no worse then Brands prior performances at the Hawks and Brand has been injured most of 2020

Aunty, this is the third time in recent months you've mention Oscar and each time previously I've told you to never mention him again, but you have!

Oscar has the highest clanger rate of anyone in the AFL. I have Dees supporting friends who could not work out how he kept getting games, he is a spud of the highest order. He has been delisted because of that.

There is no room at the Swans inn for Oscar

Those picks will be 13, 16, 18, 23/24 by the time GWS get to use them.

Who would have thought that the AFL would come in, even if intended to primarily help Victorian clubs, to relieve the Swans of the last vestiges of a points deficit fear. Picks 31 and 34 can be split and cashed in for around 300 extra points. That should be enough to cover an early Campbell bid from Hawthorn, if it should happen.

And Auntie, can I save you some time, not that I'\m trying to stop you from drawing up those beautiful lists of yours. Here's an easy way to do the player count:

We ended the season with a list count of 46, including all categories, which has been well known. We delisted 5 players, which brings us down to 41. Aliir and Hickey are a swap with no impact on list size. We can draft 3 players to get to the new maximum of 44.

That new ruling from the AFL on using late draft picks regardless of list places to match bids for Academy players seems to really help us. I wonder if we knew that before trading last week? It would surely impact on decision-making by our Club.

I think GWS would be looking to trade up the pick ladder. So Swap 10,13,20 for pick 5 or something. They dont really need 5 new players on the list.

We can thank Eddie for the tweak in the draft pick rules as it may help them with McInnes.

Allegedly that’s why they knocked back the pick for Jackson Hately as they had no use for it.

But I’ve also heard no one wants to trade out of the top5 (except Norf maybe) because it’s so good.

Bad year to have lots of picks, unless you are North... I can see North doing it as GWS might hand over 3 first rounders for pick 2.

List Sizes have now been announced.
AFL players will have their wages cut by only 3.5 per cent for the 2021 season.

Reports from across the industry on Wednesday afternoon suggest there will be a nine per cent decrease in the Total Player Payments (TPP) in 2021, but the decrease in list sizes softens the cut.

Players who signed a deal after the mid-year contract freeze will see no wage reduction.

List sizes have also been confirmed, with list sizes reduced from between 38 and 47 to between 37 and 44.

A maximum of 38 players on the senior list, down from 40 this year. Teams will only have to select one player in this year’s draft if they wish.

The salary cap is expected to return to normal in 2022.

75 per cent of the playing group will have to approve the deal for it to pass.

We are still going to delist players from the senior list as we currently have 37 on that list and will be drafting at least three. The option exists of course for them to be redrafted on the rookie list if they are still available.
