I would prefer Coxzilla to Hickey! He has limitations but I think our marketing department might like it. And we have the smalls to play at his feet: Papley, Hayward, Wicks, Taylor etc etc.
Also interesting to see that Isaac Smith is going to the Cats. (I suspect you will approve, AG. But then you also approved of Hawthorn's trading until it didn't work out so well for them. In any case I don't think it is an indictment on our trading strategy, as you appear to.) Geelong are loading up big time for the now bringing in Cameron, Higgins and Smith. If that's not enough to get them to the promised land (notwithstanding the loss of Ablett) then they're probably not going to get there soon. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Further to those comments about Geelong - GWS seem like the anti-Geelong. Geelong bring in the players at, or past, their prime but not many high picks. GWS get lots of prime picks, develop them and see them leave in their prime. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

I don’t mind the idea of Big Cox...
Geelong were the oldest ever GF side and might be even older next year. Certainly a different approach to building a list getting in a lot more players 30 plus.
I think they’ll crash and burn.Comment

To make a dynasty, you need to pull off a miracle draft, and then see those players mature to mid 20's together, and be able to convince them to stay together for less than market value.Comment

GWS god knows what happened to them this year but it’s been suggested they now need to rebuild!Comment

Jason McCartney says GWS are looking into Hogan but yet to make a decision ... so not sure it’s a fait accompli yet.
Although they may just be waiting until after Cameron-aggedon to make their move.Comment

See RWO favourite Barratt is, quite rightly, going after the potential funny business between Crows and Saints over Crouch. Also suggests Jesse Hogan is headed to one of the two Sydney clubs, not sure which one yet.

By getting players like Isaac Smith who still are OK with their skills but cost nothing, Geelong has been able to get a lot of youngsters on their list through Draft. I think they have been very astute with what they have done with their list.
Hawthorn did the exact opposite of Sydney. Hawthorn paid hefty price by topping up and losing access to draft and it did not work. We never tried to replace with top ups and went to the draft instead. High risk for Hawthorn turned out to be low reward. Geelong had a good list of core players to go head hunting for role players and just keep going to draft and they did very well with finding Tim Kelly ! I am hoping that our patience pays off the best amongst these three teams. ... but only time will tell.
I think Geelong will be better with Isaac Smith and Shaun Higgins in the team. I thought Jack Stevens was a complete waste of time for them. Ablett was good but certainly past his best. Shaun Higgins is on the decline but his best is very good and Isaac is pretty good still.
They still have Jordan Clarke, Charlie Constable, Cooper Stephens, etc waitingComment

The good thing about Cox is that its not Hickey.... not seeing much else in it. Hasnt had to Ruck for long being behind GrundyComment
