I think there is a fantastic four rather than Twomey’s five: JUH, RT, LMcD and EH.

And I reckon which ever one is left at pick 4 we take: either the best mid or one of the three best talls.

    DGB is a rung below.

Exactly the type we don’t need. It’s extremely simple...Thilthorpe is obviously extraordinary and exactly the type and size we need. Assuming he is gone then we have the chance to get a Dusty/Danger/Fyfe/Judd type player who is almost always required for a premiership. We had Adam Goodes once. Watch Hollands’ highlight reel again and then tell me you would take DGB without puking
You’re basing your decision on who to recruit off highlight clips? Highlight clips aren’t actually footage of a players best performances you realise.

Agree. As you say, there's a top 4, and then it drops off a level.

If it's EH who's the one left over at pick 4, the only way we don't take him is reticence concerning his ACL injury. Barring the injury, he would have rated alongside JUH as the best player in the draft. He could be a game changer, like a Dustin Martin. He's about 190 cm now, so getting close to key forward size. That's the same size as Tim Membrey, who everyone calls a key forward.

I'd love EH to be running around in the red and white next year. Fingers crossed.

If someone else picks him before us, then we get either Logan Macdonald or Riley Thilthorpe. Reckon that's OK

This is an extended package for Phillips and wow, it’s pretty bloody impressive. He’s tough, quick , uses it well by hand and foot, and wins contested ball at will. Tackling machine and tough to tackle to boot.

Would walk straight into our starting side next year and would complement our young midfield mix well. Phillips and Rowy the contested beasts (although not plodders) , Stephens & Campbell inside /outside hybrids with elite foot skills, gulden the outside accumulator, Blakey and J MAC the outside flyers with foot skills. I’ve probably missed some but that looks like a really good mix and a relatively quick midfield unit. Hollands would also add nicely to the mix as an explosive big bodied forward / mid.

Sure we need talls and if one of the top two rated are available it will be a tough choice, but we’ve got a pretty great opportunity to build a pretty special engine room that should serve us well into the future.
While I think that our priority should be a KPF, on the strength of that package, I'd be very happy if we took Will Phillips. One theory of mine, is that perhaps the main thing that separates elite footballers from the very good, is speed of processing. That is, the ability to sum up the situation almost instantly and then rapidly take the correct option. It seems that Will has that: his decision making looked excellent in those highlights. Looks to both go in hard and emerge quickly, as well. And a couple of the draft write ups touted him as future leadership material, so he's probably a good kid. Plus, he does seem a bit similar, to a recent Norm Smith medallist.

The "Fantastic Five" as named by Twomey doesn't include JUH because he's not in the open draft pool but is a Bulldogs' NGA player.

The other player you're missing is Will Phillips, a handy midfielder.

Phillips the is only one of the top draftees not mentioned by KB in his interview ;-)

Considering how we normally play our cards on these types of things ( close to the chest ) I wouldn’t say that rules him out at all.

He looks like a 200 game player. Amazing balance. Does not go to ground despite contact and tracks the ball well. Keeps engaged in second - third efforts. Kicks goals. I think we should take him.
Wish we had one more pick this year in top 10. There is good talent in the pool.

Read somewhere today (The Age I think) that North are keen on Holland. If that is right, and Crows opt for the SA boy then that would leave us free to select Logan McDonald who many feel is a once in a generation player. (The only downside of the same article is that it states Hawthorn is keen on Campbell which would put him at pick 6. Won’t interfere with us getting him, but may endanger us picking Gulden who KB has stated is not a total fait accompli.)
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

Best available because you dont want to miss out on a generational talent.

Even if you need a fwd you dont pass up on a Judd type midfielder

Absolutely the point I was making before. For goodness sake SSBleeder where do you get slamming me for making excitement calls just because I watch all the highlights and read all the articles.....exactly the same as everyone else. That was bloody uncalled for.
I was initially super excited about Phillips and thought that that was the best highlights package I’d ever seen...til I watched Hollands. If it come down to it, though, you have a choice between a Luke Ball, Sam Mitchell, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Lachie Neale type or a Goodes/Judd/Dangerfield/Martin/Fyfe type... it’s a no brainer. Especially when factoring in that we have Campbell - who is exactly the same type as Phillips. Having said that I think I would prefer Thilthorpe over McDonald but over the moon with either.

What's helped me review Holland is most likely at is looking at the top10 pick Kemp who was taken last year with an ACL recon

Pick 17 to Carlton Kemp went at finally as an ACL recon was taken into account despite Kemp being an extremely exciting talent

                              89kg
                              193cm
Fyfe cripps look a like and a real monster

If Kemp was available in this draft with no ACL he would have been top5 also

Kemp has had no games at all this season 2020

In a 360 degree sport like AFL .....an ACL recon is seriously taken into account and as we saw with Kemp it was

None of us would be arguing about Holland and others if Holland's was injury free and no ACL

The Age last week reported Hawthorn, which has the selection after Sydney at Pick 4, is “very interested” in Campbell, who’s a classy left-footed midfielder. Should a bid come then, the Swans – who hold Picks 31, 34, 43, 58 and 62 – would have the points to match for Campbell.

What that would mean for Gulden, though, remains to be seen. He could attract attention in the back-half of the first round or early second round, which could leave the Swans short on points. The Swans could go into draft debt to get it done, or they could organise a pre-draft pick swap to save some stress. Either way, there’s ample to play out there.

                                Afl website

Given that all the Melbourne teams let other clubs interstate use their high draft picks then bring the player home for peanuts later like say a Caldwell....Jones....Mitchell etc would we do that with Gulden ?

Pick him up again in 2yrs time for a pick 40 trade?

It is very unlikely Gulden will play more than 5 games next two seasons wouldn't u think ?
