is that code for saying we want to draft the full forward from WA and if so we won't draft Paddy but if we miss out, Paddy is planB?

That occurred to me listening to it.

Now that ET has been let go, we have potentially an extra spot on the list to either promote a rookie or to go to the draft.

We could just re-sign Fox to the main list. He was last to be dropped with the intent to add him to the rookie list. But we must have know this outcome with Taylor when Fox was delisted, so that's not all that logical.

We could also add another DFA to the main list. If I had my choice I would consider Jackson Trengove. I thought he was quite a good defender at PA, and also made a good contest when put into the ruck. He's a B&F winner too. I don't know why he fell out of favour at WB.

If we do take Paddy McCartin in the rookie draft, then we would go into the season with a total list size of 43, leaving just one open spot for future drafts. Maybe 1 spot is enough.

I think this means we will either pick up a delisted free agent (DFA) or grab an extra player at the draft. I think we'll keep any empty spots on the rookie list for the pre-season draft. By this I don't mean we won't draft any rookies - just that we will fill the minimum number of senior positions and then however many vacant positions we have will be on the rookie list ready to be filled if there is a target that appeals when the PSD comes around.

I agree that Jackson Trengove seems the most logical to DFA to target - gives us a bit of extra depth in two positions where we could use it (KPD and ruck). Also he is a proven player. I had no idea he was a B&F winner! Why has he fallen out of favour?

And I agree we should keep a spot vacant on our rookie list for the PSD. I will be pleased if we get Paddy but no doubt if the club goes a different way, it will be for good reason.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

Good job that we didn't sign Langdon from Collingwood a couple of years ago. He has just announced his retirement due to persistent injuries. Dodged a bullet there

                  Too right!

Pies looking for any TPP relief they can find. BTW, how's those Treloar talks going with the Dogs? I see the AFL has given them yet another extension to sort it out.

I'd assume the AFL will allow us the list vacancy for ET.

List sizes are quite flexible. I think it's between 37 and 44 players, so any number between those two would be fine.

We will need depth in our squad for 2021 as we have to field 2 full teams of 22 each week now we are in the VFL East Coast comp too. I'm not sure how we top up each week if we like this last season have injuries. So a Trengove or other more experienced players just give us depth for the season ahead. That's why I favour recruiting McCartin as well. That VFL comp including the stand alone teams is going to be tough each week. And I've asked this question before but where will our VFL team play their home games - Blacktown????

Yes we dodged one there. Unfortunately, its offset by the sacking of Elijah which means that we effectively got nothing for Zac Jones given that it was his pick swap that was used on E. We also dodged the Daniher bullet last year. Some wins and some losses! Its always a gamble. Just ask Collingwood!

With a list spot freed up by Elijah going I'm predicted that a DFA is heading our way.

I’d be very happy with either of Hately, Ballenden or Kennedy.
