I have rarely seen a key forward step up to pinch hit a whole game in the ruck, for a whole season, 2 years in a row, as effectively as Sinclair when they genuine ruckman does an ACL and there are no other genuine ruck replacement on the list. It’s not Sinkers fault the recruiters have gone for another genuine ruckman.

Beaten by a better team, but we didn’t give ourselves a chance with terrible goalkicking, lack of urgency at key moments, and a leaky defence: a recipe for frustration.
Some thoughts on players:
- Blakey needs a spell. He’s offering nothing and looks steps behind the play.
- Mills made a contribution playing midfield. It’s time to make the switch.
- Also time to move Dawson forward. The experiment playing him back is/was a bit annoying given how impactful he was playing in the forward half last year. They did it in the last quarter.
-Rowbottom made some mistakes, but also did some good things and at least had a crack. Great tackling technique.
- Heeney and Florent need to be much better. Very disappointing games from both.
- McInerney showed enough, although a quiet second half.
- We need some steel and height down back. Someone to lay a hit, show some desperation. The leakiness back there is off brand. Fox is not it. I think Melican should be given a go while we wait for Gould.
- They played Hayward in defensive half and it wasn’t awful. I’m a bit worried about his kicking choices down there, but worth another shot.
- Parker and Papley our best, obviously.Comment

And on injuries; just watching the replay of the Naughton injury: did he injure his foot by sticking it into Papley's midriff in the marking contest?Comment

More a case of gaps in our list due to retirements and injuries of gun defenders. His silky skills in the Bushfire match did have me wishing he would finally get a chance in the middle this season though....Comment

We have absolutely no future and will be cellar dwellers for many years to come. How weak is Blakey? I am sure my ten year old son could push him out of the way, providing he does not slip out of the contest before hand. Imagine how bad we would be if we traded Papley to Carlton !! We Took one contested mark for the whole game. Just great.Comment

Lloyd is a myth. No ticker. He actually ran beside a Bulldog's player in the last quarter without even attempting a tackle.Comment

Hmmm frustrating.
Shows we need another bigger body down back for our structure - Brand or Melican must come back in.
Haywood due a spell (and I've been a fan).
Rowbottom has all the hallmarks of a time line player in a few years. He was one of the very few things I liked watching tonite.
McInerney had a nice game too and certainly showed he's worth persisting with - he'll get the hang of this.
The rest, well, apart from Paps, pretty forgettable.
Can we go into a hub please? The SCG isn't really working for us at the moment is it.....Comment
