obviously a number of redandwhite onliners not swans supporters, Umpiring whilst not wholly onesidered favoured the Blues. One the swans got away with was when Dawson was run down in the third qrt I think , it was wrong. The game has gone backwards this year with the umpiring leading the way ,we should recruit some large league players who can just bust the pack particularly that throwing is in, footscray also get away with it.

Sinclair became the focal point in attack, why I don't know and McLean and Reid were now lost in the fwd line. Sinclair is a total liability, he's not a ruckman and is not a forward, there is no position for him in the team.
Young blokes ran out of gas tonight especially when it got wet. We have a genius for getting smashed in centre clarances. I'd settle for winning 40% of them. Puts too much pressure on our defence which, although excellent, can't cope and will eventually give way. Chronic problem for years - not just a ruck issue,

        WOW.
        Just WOW.
Someone tell me how you give away a 39 point lead.
Talk about resting on your laurels - after ONE quarter.
        Jeez.

Another comments is that Rowie seems to have lost a bit since Josh K returned.

Joey was particularly poor last night (relative to his high standards). He seemed flat/tired and I surprised he didn't get pinged more for holding the ball.
I was hoping they would push/rest him forward more to give Rowbottom some more time in the middle, plus I thought he would have been pretty good around the feet of Reid and McLean. Anyway hindsight ....

Disappointing night after the lively start. But I think even accounting for other factors, they basically ran out of legs in the second half. Carlton were bigger-bodied and when they kept coming, there was no response.

Umpiring: well yes, some errors. Arguably it did make a difference, since we lost by a goal and one goal came from a clear throw. You might also argue that good teams win regardless of those moments, by being better for longer and staying more than 1-2 goals ahead throughout.

Weather: I have never been convinced that there are teams which go better, or worse, in the wet. Maybe a team with a higher general skill level might do better. But statistically I think there's very little evidence that weather favours or disadvantages certain teams.

We lauded the same team last week, the disappointment of loss this week, so it will be until the consistency returns - next season, I'm sure.

I reckon the 39 point lead flattered us and was a reflection of Carltons poor ball use going inside 50. They were still winning more clearances, inside 50s etc.

Swans have become adept at absorbing a load of inside 50s, but it leaves us vulnerable if teams find a way of making their entries more effective, which Carlton did.

As others have noted it all comes back to being smashed in the midfield inside and particularly on the outside (they were +35 uncontested possessions). Centre clearances we lost 11-6.

If Hewett or Mills was fit we might have played them on Cripps, but JPK took it on and got beaten.

We simply run out of legs . Umpiring was deplorable and I’m totally confused with holding the ball . You can basically do a ring a ring a Rosie with 5 blokes hanging off you and it’s still play on . But having said that we run out of legs plain and simple

Yeah they need to crack down on that, if you get spin full circle that is prior. As the commentators said last night, if you’re trying to discourage tacklers bringing the player to ground then you have to reward those upright tackles more where there has been clear prior.

Not only that you can now do ring a ring a rosie, you can also pass it off like a rugby league dummy half at the end of it. The rule is broken in its current application by the maggots.

                        What about these stats:

                        inside 50s 51-34
                        disposals 299-245
                        contested possession 132-109
                        scoring shots 17-12

It wasn't just the umpires, Carlton dominated us once they turned things around.
You still didn't answer my question......actually, maybe you are happy "because it restores a better draft pick?" If your one of those thinkers, shame on you.....

Yes, it's not so much the 360, or even the 540, that bothers me. It's the throw at the end of it that has me shouting at the screen.

In sports, choking is the failure of a sportsperson or team in a game in a situation where maintaining their performance is highly important. This can occur in a game or tournament that they are strongly favored to win, or in an instance where they have a large lead that they squander in the late stages of the event
So in this case we weren’t heavily favoured and we didn’t have a large lead late in the game soooooo maybe they just started well and couldn’t go with it ? Or Carlton played poorly initially?
Just maybe it wasn’t really a choke simply just being beaten?
F8, nice try mate but pessimists will complain (and troll) whatever the situation....
