Nick will probably like not having his Dad as a coach

I'm also a bit shocked by Blakey leaving. Always held him in high esteem. Maybe we're making room for Roos to come back to us! But seriously, we've lost a few this year. Who is available to come in?

Disappointing for us to lose Blakey but makes sense from his perspective (new challenge and change of scenery after a long stint at the Swans), from Rhyce's (gets a known and trusted mentor, something he desperately needs), and probably good for Nick too. He's at an age when he really needs to leave home!

May open the door for Tadhg to get his job back. Or if not, there will be some decent assistant coaches released if the soft cap is slashed.

Come on, RD - why even go there? Nick is a Swans fan and player for life.

There’s nothing from the club about it, but I can’t imagine he would blindside them.

I think it’s a massive change. And do wonder who will take his place as he was the most senior coach in the club.

I recall Nick Blakey being interviewed on Fox Footy last year by Neroli Meadows. She asked Nick if his father moved to Melbourne for coaching job would he follow him? Nick responded "No" saying how much he loved Sydney having grown up there and then jokingly said mum could stay with him for the cooking/cleaning! I think Nick is heavily invested on our potential upward trajectory compared to North who appear to be going in opposite direction.

I wonder if this is related to Cox being groomed as Longmire's successor? No basis in fact other than observing Cox always there at Longmire's side in the box.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Hope you are right. But I'm just thinking out aloud. I'm sure Norf has already asked the question.........

I'd always thought he was paying some sort of penance for being in the box with Horse on match days...

Would you give him up for pick 2?
