No way are we losing Luke Parker. It’d be like losing Paul Kelly.
As for the “game day experience”, the interminable racket and hideous post-goal, crowd-silencing music had me wearing ear protection and seriously considering renewing my membership next year. Although not being able to attend a game for 3 months has dampened my ire somewhat.

Parker's asking contract (if correct) is reasonable. He is a key foundation of our team and will be for some time yet. Several other players are on a better deal than sort by Parker in our team (Buddy and Heeney). Its not like Hawthorn who moved on champions like Hodge towards the end of their career. Parker must be kept as is the case with Dawson. George is easier to replace.

If he was asking for a Josh Kelly style deal, you'd say sayonara. But this ain't it.

Anyway, I've said it before but I reckon the big one is coming next year: Heeney. He'll need to take a substantial pay cut. How big that is will be a sore point, for club and player, and will potentially make resolution of Parker's contract negotiations look like smooth sailing.

In response to Ludwig - the head may say Hewett (and you make some compelling arguments), but the heart is definitely with Parker. Intangibles such as culture of the club would count too much for us to walk Parker out the door.

And Leadership can't be underestimated.

But over the life of his next contract, which I assume will be a four year deal:

* Parker will be on $700ish, we assume
* Mills and Paps are already on $600+, and won’t get cheaper
* Dawson in all likelihood will be pushing into that range, either this contract or if scuttlebutt is correct, when he comes up to free agency in two years
* Lloyd is apparently up in that range, and ain’t exactly falling away
* We might have got McCartin in on a reasonable deal this time but if he keeps it up he’ll be wanting a good salary in two years time
* And over that window, you suspect at least some of JMac, Gulden, and if they keep developing according to their potential, McDonald, Campbell, Blakey, Warner etc will demand decent coin
* Then, as we hit the window, the club - having done the hard yards of drafting and developing - will want the option of recruiting or getting a free agent to complete the puzzle.

It may be we can phase it to cope but it’s going to be a lot to juggle, and Heeneys apparently on +$900 already. As I said, even asking him to cut from that to $800k is a lot. He’s worth every cent but I reckon we’ll have to squeeze every contract hard to keep room for the complement of talent we’ve developed.

A quick Google search suggested Reid's contract prior to the one that's about to expire had him on 500k + a year. So the current one would be between 500-750k a year. If we let Reid go, that's a significant chunk in the kitty to top up Parker and re-sign George as well as draft a rookie ruck / forward.

I find it hard to see how Reid stays given our Cap situation. Sadly for us he has little trade value now given his age and injury record. He will either be elsewhere next season or on minimum coin with us or retired.

Sam Reid contract: New deal at Sydney Swans, four-year contract
Have a read (no pun intended). My take on it is that he would've signed a 4 year deal at least equal to what he was receiving in the last year of the preceding contract.

2006 was McVeigh’s breakout year . He was mainly used as a tagger . His head to head role on Cousins during the final series were amazing . Both players ran themselves into the ground .
Following years he slowly moved away from the tagging role

and only one of those players was on performance enhancers, I won't identify which player of the two. Remember how Cousins would come out after half time like he hadn't even played a half? hmmmmm

So assuming the comp isn't Covid-ed out of existence next year and we can resume our regular spots in the stands, there should
be actual food sold at the SCG for the first time in many years.

I lived in the Brewongle for years until this season.
Execrable.disgusting,overpriced, under or over cooked, out of date food.
But was at a game this year in the Trumper.
It was like a different country.
Edible, fairly priced, variety of real food, staff who had some understanding of what they were presenting.
Hope Merivale resembles the Trumper.
