They are all doing well , except one

We are playing finals , i've enjoyed it all along and they will enjoy it when they play in their first finals , except one

Here's a link to the Footywire player comparison

Chad Warner and James Rowbottom AFL Stats Comparison
Fairly comparable at first viewing but a couple of stats jumped out me James has made almost twice as many tackles and has more than double the number of 1%ers . Both things that I think the coaching panel would approve of. The other was that James has broken even on the free kick count however Chad gives up 4 for every one he earns. Maybe something else that the coaching panel would be aware of.
Now I am definitely NOT anti Chad and think he is going to be a hell of a player and love seeing him get his hands on the ball and think he could very well end up as a superstar.
We should trust that the selection panel will assess many different KPI’s in an effort to put a well balanced and competitive team on the field, something I think they have done very well this year.

Frankly speaking your comments don’t sound like you are enjoying it much because I can see from your comments that you are glued to RB when watching the game and expressing your noxious profanities every time he is near the ball while not noticing anyone else and just glossing over your so called elite players.or maybe that is your idea of enjoying.

Earlier this season, The Bloods was telling us all that the Lizard and Hayward were not up to it. He should be eating humble pie on that now. I suspect Rowbottom will also require another portion of humble pie from The Bloods once RB gets his knee right.

I am glued to RB as i see him as the weak link who is continually selected in a team of players the rest of who perform to a good standard and im impressed with , including Blakey and Hayward who shut me up . Waiting for RB to shut me up has been like waiting for pigs to fly. He needs to look at his footy and ask himself what he is doing . Last week he was playing for his spot in the team , you dont get a greater opportunity than that , and did you see what he dished up ?? Unbelievable . It riles me up because he will get a pass on here for what has frankly been an awful season with not 1 standout game at all but others like Bell and Fox who will do their job admirably and reliably every week will be left out of some posters 22s ! And I will see things like LLoyd is a good trade option , our reigning best and fairest ! And Jpk is too slow , our best mid ! So thats acceptable but me having a problem with the bloke who has done stuff all this year and most of his career to be frank but has been given an armchair ride at selection ? That makes me the one in the wrong ?

And then when i ignore RB and focus my attention on the players who give me cause for great hope and excitement like Chad and Jmac i am told im being over the top !

There’s having a problem and then there is incessant campaigning. There have been posts that contains factual comparisons of players for you to assess that indicate he is tracking as well if not better than your favourites but you choose to ignore them because they don’t back up your narrative. We all are well aware of your opinion by now apparently the team coaches and selectors don’t share it.
I often find value in many of your other posts on subjects other than James it’s just a shame that your continual sniping and denigration of him detracts from that. Seeing as he is contracted till the end of 2024 you may want to get used to his presence

TheBloods, would you describe yourself a patient person? We are all very much aware that you are not impressed with James. He is nowhere near as bad as you make out. He doesn't cost us games or constantly make the same type of silly error over and over. If James Rowbottom is the biggest issue the Swans have right now then we really are sitting pretty. You need to have patience. If he is as bad as you say he is then I'm sure he will be found out sooner rather than later. All he's done wrong is fail to impress you. I'm suggesting you ease up on a 20 yr old kid who loves the club.

Toby Conway is rated the best pure ruck and is cousins with the McCartins and also from the Geelong Falcons. Mac Andrews into the top 10. Gibcus now rated 6th. (Not the phantom draft but still suggests we'll need trade something if we want one of them.)

The name Goater caught my eye. First we'd had GOATs. Now we have Goater!! He won't need another nickname.
Last year we were in dire trouble with our ruck. Hickey has done wonderfully well hopefuly he will keep it up for the reamining 2 years of his contract - he came to us with 100 games under his belt and was less dinged about than most 30 year old ruckmen. Between his age, and the knee we need to think of succession planning.
In that regard I don't think drafting a ruckman is the right option. We have Big Mac in the development stage - most rucks take a lot of years to develop, and I think we'll need a replacement before anyne that you would be ready.

So saying I think we'll look at grabbing a youndger ruck, one that's almost cherry ripe to take on first ruck duties. And one that would view an aing Tom Hickey as less of an impediment to their career than whoever they are behind at their currant club.

Ludwig is enamoured by Chol at Richmond, he is behind Nanny, whose still only 26. And has competition from Soldo and Coleman-Jones. I'm less enamoured, principally because I don't like ruckmen that weigh less than some midfielders.

I've been keeping an eye on Flynn for the last couple of years, he's 23, is capable, doesn't mind doing the bulldozer work, and wouldn't be a complete liability resting up forward. He's supposedly out of contract at the end of the year, however if Preuss doesn't come good he's in the box seat to succeed Father Time at the Giants.
                    Disapointing.
However, the match against Freo presented another option. While I am a bit uncertan about a Meek ruckman, I wonder whether we might look at Lloyd. He did well for half against Hickey, and would only ever be backup at Freo now they've setled on Dacy - with Lobb giving him a short break each quater.

I've been thinking about TheBoods'' mono mania. I don't share it, I'm pretty sure Rowbottom is paying under serious knee duress this season and I've thought his performances prior have been very impressive. In fact, the slightly scrappy, scroungy way he plays, he reminds me very much of Daryn Cresswell - although the #8 on his back may enhance the resemblance.

I agree and have suggested him as an option a couple of times over the last few years. He is out of contract at the end of this year. Footage I have seen shows that he doesn’t mind throwing his weight around I think the technical term is “ bullocking ruckman “
Can take a grab and has good kicking skills as well.
Originally played for North Ballarat ( we have had a bit of success with other players from there ) and having left the family farm to attend Ballarat Grammar before being drafted probably doesn’t have the same pull to head back to Victoria that some players have.
                        Definitely worth looking at

The McCartains have a cousin who is a 204cm ruckman, rated by Cal Twomey currently as pick 23. His name is Toby Conway, described as the best pure ruckman in this year's crop with good mobility and can take a mark. Plays for the Geelong Falcons.

Sounds like he would definitely be worth a look.

I like it, list Paddy Mc as a DFA, take the rucking cousin in the ND and Chad's younger brother later in the draft - the family club :-)

Can everyone remember what thread they are on, this is the trading/drafting/list management thread NOT the Rowbottom performance/non performance thread! Take that tired stuff to another more appropriate thread, thank you

I hope we take a punt on McCartin. If his brother went down, I just don't know how we would cover him. Whilst he has had the odd poor match (Port), he's probably been our most important player alongside Hickey from an irreplaceable perspective.
It's probably also the only way we can get a ready made defender. We don't have overly attractive picks to trade, and no players of value we'd want to move. I wouldn't mind considering Jack Hombsch as a back up on the list if we don't take Paddy.
This years draft could see us pick up a smokey with pick 15ish or pick 30ish.

What's beautiful is - Collingwood have completely blown their draft. They're in a position where they could put their stars in for surgery, and finish last. But there's no benefit to them, as they've traded out their first round pick. If they hadn't, they could have acquired Horne and Daicos in the one drafted.

Wouldn't mind trading with Freo soon. The last time someone player played a game who had been linked to both of us was Troy Cook in 2007. We're due.
