No to Cox I would rather the games go to Armatey

NO - 1. he's bordering on useless and 2. let Collingwood deal with their salary cap mess without help from other clubs, unless it involves taking a good player from them at a very, very cheap price like last trade period

I like the idea of in-case-of-emergency-break-glass-ruckman, and as Sinkers seems to have put down roots, it seems logical it be him. I really, really dislike seeing players sent into the ruck when they aren't ready, or patently ill suited for it.

I'm of the opinion that it's going to be a tough road back from Naismith. 3rd knee, multiple soft tissue injuries and currently 29. The odds would say that for the best interests of the club, he should retire. That would allow us to keep Sinclair as backup and draft another young ruck with potential. Having a reliable backup for Tom is imperative given he's towards the end of his career and has a bung knee.

It saddens me but I have to agree re: Sam. Has had zero luck in his footy career - really thought he would make a very good ruckman at various points, but his body has really let him down.

              Agreed.

I know he had a couple of notable games, but otherwise . . . And I reckon his ruck skills were worse than his skills as a forward. I mean, good luck to him for getting as far as he did and having a couple of spectacular moments, but not someone we need.

Clarkson's resignation has led to increased speculation Hawthorn will be open to trade Tom Mitchell, O'Meara, Wingard & Gunston based on Sam Mitchell's desire to perform youth based rebuild of their list. The players themselves are most likely wanting to move on now that Hawthorn won't be finals contender for years to come.

None of these players imo would be our prime requirements. The only player on Hawthorn's list I think might be interest to us is Sciliy and even he'll be 27yo by start of next season!

I'm now so grateful how our club decided to perform gradual re-build of our list compared to Hawthorn's strategy of topping up their aging list in hope of quick finals re-bound. Big sliding doors moment as to the trajectory both clubs find themselves now.

I would look at O'Meara or Mitchell if they come at the right price as both are just good footballers. However, given our current cap tightness, emphasis on re-signing our young talent and the resistance of both these guys to an interstate move its highly unlikely to happen.

List cloggers not suited to the modern game, need Errol and Chad Warner types

Maybe Shaun Burgoyne will move on to Geelong. He fits their age profile well. I think there a number of candidates for a move from Hawthorn to Geelong. The Cats are doing very well with an old list, and if they don't want to go into a long rebuild, which I'm sure Chris Scott won't want to do, then they have to keep going with the current plan of recruiting aging stars. If they are the only club playing that strategy, it's going to work, as it has worked so far.

Ceglar. Will be 31 next year. Experienced ruck support for Hickey. Get him on the cheap.

                            Why not just keep Sinclair?

I really can’t see us being too active in the trade period this year. A KPD would be our highest priority.

I think our need for a second ruck has dissipated with the emergence of Amartey. Medium term we will need a ruck but I’m happy to stick with a depth chart for 2022 of Hickey, Amartey, Sinclair, McLean, McAndrew.
