Take him off the table: Swans, Heeney open talks ahead of free agency (afl.com.au)

Eye on the future: 10 draft prospects to watch in 2022 (afl.com.au) Lewis Hayes looks like one we should keep a close eye on. I especially note his December birthday.

I stumbled across this radio interview with Sheldrick from yesterday (so after he was drafted). He says that his manager believed that he (Sheldrick) was the Cats' prime target in moving forward to grab pick 23 in the draft. Given the Swans were also pretty keen on that pick, I daresay they were aware of the Cats' interest.
Great listen - thanks for posting.

It's not really a problem, but we will probably finish too high to be in line for a top 10 prospect.

Yeah, but we can ride on Melbourne to suffer the major blues.

Being the only club so far with two 2022 first-round picks has its perks.

Worth having a look at the excellent Future draft pick tracker stickied on the BF Trading, Drafting board. A handful of clubs have almost no picks next year, Gold Coast groaning under the weight of picks

Gold Coast has exploited its assistance package by converting the picks it didn't need into future picks. Even if all remaining assistance was removed, such as the right to list players from its zone without needing to draft them, they have set themselves up well for the future.

It's always the future for Gold Coast though - and if you look at what they've burned through in the past, it's hard to have confidence that the next future will be any different from the last few futures.

+1 to the earlier recommendation to watch the WAFL Colts GF on YouTube. Angus looks brilliant - he's not just tough. He is smart in tight and creates an extra bit of space or time for himself. And is strong as an ox.
He also works really hard. A number of time he is the first to arrive from a clearance to the next phase of play.

He's not a speculative pick for me. Just not rated appropriately by many.

I thought the best quote he said in that interview was he's advice to people who didn't make it this draft that you have to put in the hard work when nobody's watching. sounds really good.
