But i think i speak for many when i say i dont agree with any of it and im not seeing what you are seeing. Not at all! Which makes it very hard to have a discussion with you on this when you are starting it from the point where you dont like this that and the other about Rowbottom and you're not moving. Its more nuanced than that.

Everything ive seen of Jimmy hes an energetic hustler around the contest - charges through, shimmies out of trouble and has a thumping kick to cover the ground. He has seemed plenty attacking enough. Warner might be on another level. Its too soon to tell. But even still - one Swan can be good without another needing to be bad. Per match ups this week i can see why one would not want Rowbottom coming back in and taking midfield opportunities from Mills or Warner , who have been sensational. Either way i have full confidence if the coaches put him back in there then they trust he will be able to do his job. I think they would know better than us.
Because you cant just make up passages of play that Rowbottom never had. Warner has played 5 matches in his whole career and has already had about 10 moments or highlights that are better than anything RB has done in his 30 games - moments that RB could never do as they arent in his skill set. Mills has had two BOG games now, is really coming into his own and realising his potential. Future captain and will lead this midfield in tandem with The Chad. So those two arent going anywhere. We need Florents leg speed so he wont be going anywhere. Kennedy and Parker are the heart and soul of this team and still regularly our best mids. They arent going anywhere. Do you see why i dont have Rowbottom as a priority when you look at those 5 ??

I am not knocking his games so far in his career, they have been mostly good. But he seemed like our brightest young star last year in a side that was floundering. When Mcinerney came in the side later in the year he looked far better than RB. So did Stephens. We are seeing more of the same with Gulden and the Chad. With every elite kid we get more games into , it becomes more and more obvious that Rowbottom is a level below them. Thats OK not everyone has to be a world beater but it should mean that he is not given a pass to play seniors without any reserves form, or that we should accept middling games from him just because hes young and might have a future. We MUST maintain our high standards !

Your opinion is that Warner is better than him again the facts don’t exactly back that up and btw there is only a few months difference in age.
How do outside players get their hands on the ball without inside mids ?
I think rather than you continually bagging him we wait and see what the selectors think moving forward as in all honestly I think we have room for both players in our best 22 but that’s only my opinion.
And if they see no place for him in the best 22 this season I will be happy to acknowledge your perceptive posts.
I now await your expected reply ????
Blind freddy can see that Warner is already ahead of him

And there it is . You are using a very small sample to make your judgement.
And once again maybe just maybe we could have them both in the team.

I cannot understand the roasting of Rowbottom. Firstly it was Wicks a few weeks back and now its RB. The kid is a gun, especially in close. His selection is automatic.

Can everyone please shut up about Rowbottom lol. He's in our best 25 and will be a good player. This is getting ridiculous.

On a positive note, my favourite part of yesterdays game was how much it obviously meant to the team. I think it was a watershed moment for the Swans and I don't take that term lightly. You could see it in Dane Rampe's post match interview how much it meant, you could see it in Papley's celebrations and even the reserved Logan McDonald managed a smile and cheer! My cheeks hurt by the end of the game cause you could see how much fun they were having putting Richmond to the sword! 7 players who had never played at the MCG!

However I see a few changes for next week. A lot of tired and sore boys out there by the end of it!

We shouldnt feed into it. But we are protective of our players - ALL of them. The constant denigration of a young man who is both an exceptional player and person. I dont like it. It is bullying and though it is not to his face it is sad that we can have someone so hard working who has won many over not just with his playing but with his wonderful character and he just gets dragged frequently. It feels wrong to ignore and be a bystander to a smear campaign on a young man so very undeserving. We are all an open minded bunch. If TheBloods was able to posit his doubts about Rowbottom into a civil way we might be able to have meaningful debates about comparing youths or standards for senior selection or even about his development. Unfortunately its just a constant barrage aimed at the one player. It is wrong and unfair. He didnt even play yesterday he should not be a talking point. The talking point should be about the 22 Swans who did us so very proud yesterday and lifted that noble banner high !

Call out for Sam Reid - best I've seen him play for years. Just having a massive impact - however fab the kids are being, it's great to see our leaders pitching in as well.

So, since we're coming clean with mea culpas, thoroughly acknowledge that I was giving the recruitment team howls of derision for picking up "Hackey" pre-season. My bad.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Numbers only matter if you want to make an argument that is based on nothing but qualitative mumbo jumbo - and we all know statistically he is doing just fine.

It is very likely both be long term fixtures in our 22 (assuming they are still at the club of course), irrespective of the opinions of individuals on here.

That was a great day - Goodesy put on a clinic in the 2nd of that one. It wasn't till the return leg against them at the SCG late in the season that I said to my mate walking out - I reckon we can win the flag this year.

Never been a question of work rate or ability for Reid - just skills that didn't quite get to the point we hoped, and a body that has let him down far too much. What a luxury we may have if we can keep a relatively fit list, to be able to manage his time along with the time of Buddy this season. McLean is such a trooper when he comes in - no nonsense guy that plays his role and gets a job done. Its a nice place to be - long may they all stay fit!

As good as we were, Richmond were terrible. Not sure if injuries have caught up with them or the end of the era is upon us. Their game against Port will be a big test.

Last week post match i heard Warner say how he kicked that running goal against the Crows after seeing space and decided to have a running shot. Could see yesterday how much confidence that must've gave him with that sensational running goal in the 2nd qtr, which was on another level.

His link up play looked good.

He and Blakey will have those games where their gut running and ball carrying ability will tear teams apart.
He was second up after an interrupted pre season. He will be better for the run. Stephens also had in interrupted preparation so is stiff to be out. A lot of the players are playing for their spot every week. All the better for their need to produce every week. Ollie late last year looked to me that he was playing like regardless of his form, he wasn't going to get dropped. Looks a heck of a lot sharper this year.

I think we made them terrible. We put huge pressure on and shut down options again and again. The number of times we were able to break down their chains of possession and win the ball back was amazing. And we forced them to kick and miss targets.

Look at Port yesterday. You are only as good as your opponent allows you to be.
