Agree 100% those of us at the MCG in 2016 saw first hand how umpire No 9 - M Stevic absolutely screwed us over.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Mccartin, What a player he has become. Twice hes done a number on Tomahawk. No small feat. Made no secret my views on Hayward and Melican but both were great in the air. Dont like to see anyone injured. Young Stephens grew into the game and he will be better. Florent class and bog for us. He is better on the outside. Leg speed breaking lines is what we lack. Chad is a total bull and Jmac silky as. Excellent goals from both. Papley and Heeney were total let downs !

Dont rate Mclean but credit where its due he was a mammoth. Headed to the Bradman stand expecting the Hawkins and Cameron show - didnt think i'd be seeing the Mclean show !

Kennedy once again a class above , especially late. Game on the line - some of his efforts were extraordinary. Concur with those saying Hick is our most important player. You cant beat a ruckman when they are at full flight. Joy to watch. Filthy umpiring from those green maggots and the constant ducking of that grub Selwood aside , fantastic night. Fantastic win. This group have got plenty of life in them to make an impact this season
In your opinion.....how do you think RB (21 possessions, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal, 572 metres gained....2nd most metres gained in the match) went? It's noted that he is conspicuously and unsurprisingly absent from your match report.

+100 By half time had sick feeling in my stomach the umpires were ensuring we ain't gonna win it, such was the magnitude of their Bulldogs favouritism. Disgusting and waiting for the true conspiracy to be exposed one day.

He was ok. His goal was fantastic.

The kick was definitely 15+ metres but that shouldn't really be the point of contention. Hope one of the Footy Shows tomorrow picks up on this.
If they are all Melbourne based, they won't. Maybe Gerard Healy will come in to bat for the actual facts.

No 29 was worse. Can't remember his name but it was his first and last grand final. After the match the AFL admitted he was crap (my word not theirs...the AFL was more polite ????). He retired in 2019 and at the grand final I was standing at the fence as his car went around. I refrained from telling him what I thought.

I’m puzzled that several on here say that. I’d be pleased if you were right. But I’ve listened to the video repeatedly and, though very difficult to hear, it sounds like ‘not 15’ to me.

Lol just doing a 'consistency' test are you Stevo?

If only the umpires were as consistent - I guess they are wrong quite a lot however....

An amazing level of self control Mel - I would well and truly have been telling them what I thought, irrespective of the occasion.

Take the good with the bad when it comes to the umpiring, especially when we seem to be on the bad more often than not.........

Agree - I can't hear "touched" anywhere in that. I think the problem is the umpires are coached to make a "play-on" call as quickly as possible to give the players on the receiving end time to react. In this case, the umpire judged off the boot that the ball was going to land in the goal square, or a bit closer and so called play-on too early.

Still, you win some and you lose some - I'll take it.

Not sure why people are ripping into Scott here. He was directly asked if it was a bad call, and it was - what's he going to say? His answer was honest - it was a bad call, but it happens. In particular, he said "umpires don't decide games". He also generally took emphasis off the last stages of the game, saying the problem was that they couldn't put us away earlier, and questioning why the AFL only comments on umpiring decisions at the end of close games. That's exactly the point others here are making about bad calls earlier in the game that would have made the last 30 seconds irrelevant. (I imagine he thinks that they went against the Cats, but is the prerogative of the supporter to be one-eyed).

Here’s the thing that peeves me. Regardless of whether the decision was right, wrong or anything in between, why does the VFL single it out for attention. There were other clearly incorrect or plain bad decisions that had our supporters howling.

But because that ducker (sorry for the mis-spelling) Selwood has a bitch and moan and the Melbourne media like to drop to their knees for him, the VFL wets its pants and jumps.

Where is the press conference for the horrid decision against Lloyd. Or Stephens.

To be honest, the only press conference the VFL should be holding for Geelong is to announce the sanctions for clearly rorting their salary cap.

Well said - we’ve been on the receiving end of so many howlers against us over the years it was our turn to win one. AS for Selwood he whacked Rowbottom fair across the head in that final tackle - watch the replay. How many HTB’s that should’ve been called and weren’t and the coat hanger our boy copped earlier (sorry can’t remember names) we shouldve got a 50 for. So I don’t care if the media and Geelong have the collective @@@@s about the last minute of the game. Karma is a bitch and she came back to bite Geelong.

Biased as I am, the last mark to Cameron was just that. The umpire called it "not 15" way too early, as it clearly ended up traveling far enough.

Also, they then missed a clear free on Selwood collecting RB high. And then of course he whinged about a HTB, but lets just call that two missed frees.
